"goodbye," yeseul called as the customer left the small convenience store. she sighed as she pulled her phone out of her vest and plugged her earphones in.

her mind drifted to her little sister, who would be arriving home around now―

the bell for the door rang, and yeseul sat up. she peeked at the customer who walked in, but could barely see him as his hood covered his face.

after a while, he walked up to the counter with a packet of band-aids.

"850 won," she said, observing him as he shuffled through his backpack for money.

his dark hair poked messily out of his hood, and he wore simple attire - a navy hoodie and grey sweatpants. his skin was paper white, and his dark eye bags made him look sick.

he reminded yeseul of herself.

he placed the money on the counter before clearing his throat. "uh, are you guys hiring?"

"oh, i don't know, but i can give your resume to my manager if you have it," she responded. he nodded, giving her an envelope.

"thanks," he muttered, walking out of the store with the band-aids. yeseul looked at the name written sloppily on the enclosed paper.
