Alfendi Layton, is quite a puzzling character. Though you wouldn't have said that when you first met him. No, he actually was very polite and simply a pleasant person to be around. It all started when you began working as a Detective Constable in Scotland Yard and on that first case, you were assigned to work along side him by your Superior, Commissioner Barton. After being briefed on the situation, you were sent to Inspector Layton's office.

Now you've heard quite a few things about him at the time that were both good and well... other. But you preferred to judge for yourself, after all not everyones statement can be completely reliable at times. You found the door to be wide open,  but didn't see anyone inside so you decided stayed near it and knock on the door to let him know that you were there, if he happened to be in the back or something.

"What are you doing? You know can just walk in, right?" you heard from behind you, which causing you to jump. "Sorry for frightening you. I just went to get a cup of coffee, long hours you know. Do you want some, I could get you one from the staff room if you'd like." he told you as he closed the door after you both entered the office . "Um, no but thank you anyway." he then turned and stood in front of you. "So what brings you into the mystery room?" he inquired then taking a sip of his coffee. as he waited for your answer. "Well, I was assigned to work with you on the Denvin Carlton case. Oh and I'm the new detective (Y/n), nice to meet you." you said then holding your hand out to shake his. He looked surprised then shook it with a smile then said "Inspector Layton, but don't feel obliged to stick to the formalities, Alfendi would suit just fine." "Alfendi, got it!" you stated. "Good, now the Denvin Carlton case, hmm. You've been brief on it I presume?" He pondered. "Yes, sir!", "There is no need for the sir." he replied "Oh, Sorry!", "That's okay." he smiled reassuringly. "So, then tell me what you know."  he inquired as he took a seat in his chair with his leg crossed over the other, looking up at you."Well, he worked as a C.E.O for a highly successful business, the crime happened in his office. The cause of death, was blunt force trauma to the head and there are three suspects. His colleague James Marcer who had a meeting with him and quite possibly a row on the day in question, the secretary Livia Wilelongar who was outside his office all day giving her an opportunity to enter and exit his office room anytime she pleased without a cause of much suspicion to the other co-workers around her and the security guard Juste Fors'Aftey who was suppose to come and discuss a recent security report with him." You explained. "Yes, very good! Now who do you think did?" he then asked "I, excuse me?", "Who do you think did it? Even what you think relying on your gut instinct, I'll let you think about it." He stated.

You thought about it for a while and said "Honestly, I think it was the secretary, she had the opportunity and has the least credible alibi seeing as everyone had seen the other two come in and out and what times they did so, though she is somewhat her own alibi claim she was working at her desk, but this allows her enough room to possibly lie in her statement." you gave your answer. He smirks "Well you are not wrong but what might you say on her motive?", "Hmm, um... Well." you were at a loss, he then chuckled and said "It's alright, you've got some potential. You just need a bit of help to get you to the conclusion.", "Do you know who did it then?" you questioned. "Oh, certainly I do! I am 97.2% sure of the identity of killer in question." He chimed. "Well that is oddly specific, but alright!" you added. There was then a knock at the door. "Oh, sorry for forgetting to tell you I invited the suspects in for questioning. Now we can fix any loose ends left unsolved and close this case. Are you ready?" you then nodded, he smiles and opens the door for the first suspect to walk in.

                                                                                      ---

After your long investigation and the many twists and turns the case went into, you both found out it was in fact the secretary due to a quibble, causing Mr. Carlton to fire her to which sent her into a rage, attacking him with a statuette and in the spur of the moment strike him on the head resulted in his death as well as regret for going so far. When it was over and she was put under arrest, Alfendi asked if you would stay on as his assistant in the mystery room seeing as you two make a 'pretty good team' as he put it, to which surprised you but you to gladly accepted. This started your career with him as well as the many cases solved between the both of you, to this day and even with all the events that have come to pass, you both were with each other through the thick and thin of it.
