That morning, Hermes's cabin had played a joke on Athena's. As was to be expected, a war had broken out between the two cabins, to which more people had joined, either to defend their friends or simply because they liked to fight. Obviously Clarisse was included in the second group.
Will wondered, as he bandaged Connor Stoll's arm, if they should not have learned the lesson after the ... What was this? The fourth, fifth time?
He shook his head slowly as he saw his patient's brother being seen by another son of Apollo, while a grumpy Katie Gardner shouted at him to stay still. Connor was not his first patient that day, and he would not be the last.
No, the last one had been Mark, a demigod son of Ares who had reluctantly entered the infirmary with a good cut in the leg, courtesy of Malcolm Pace when Mark cut the book he was reading in half. Will was sure that the ugly wound on his leg was the last thing Mark should worry about. Who would say that the quiet children of Athena could be so bloodthirsty?
By the time he finished sewing the wound, the sun had already completely disappeared, Will's stomach had begun to sound loud and he realized he had not eaten anything all day.
-Change the bandages every night, and put this on every time you do it- He ordered Ares' son while he handed him a bottle with ointment- It will help it not to get infected.
-Yeah, whatever.
-And please, I know that what I'm asking is impossible, but try to keep yourself away from the fights even if it's a couple of days, it's not nice the cut you have there.
Will stood in the door of the infirmary watching his patient walking with difficulty, muttering something about "stupid doctors and their useless orders." He chuckled to a certain son of Hades. He liked to remember his frown whenever he ordered him to rest after using his powers ignoring his orders, or the pout he made when he did not let him get out of the infirmary bed, or the light smile he had when he helped him do the inventory and used to start conversations that cost to leave later. Or the intense look he had with his rosy cheeks before Will captured those lips with his own. Or everything
-Then, are you going to stop looking at nothing as if you were drugged or ...?
Except maybe that ability to go completely unnoticed when he wanted to.
-Gods, Nico! Stop showing up like this from nothing!
Nico chuckled at the jump that struck Apollo's son with a hand to his chest. Will turned around to see his boyfriend standing next to the desk where he used to make reports and accounts of nursing supplies. He wore his dark jeans and black sneakers as usual, but this time he had put on one of the orange T-shirts of the camp, suspecting that when he told he how good he looked on one of his T-shirts was a little bit influential. He had a plate with food in each hand and offered one.
-I did not see you all day and you skipped dinner, so I saved a little for you.
Will raised an eyebrow as he sat in the chair behind his desk and Nico used the one on the other side.
-I saw two dishes, not just one -said innocently.
-Yes, well,- Nico replied with a shrug. -I may have wanted to keep company with a certain doctor who did not put his foot out of the infirmary throughout all the day.
Will smiled fondly and accepted the plate that Hades's son was getting tired of holding.
-I did not see you when you came in- he commented, narrowing his eyes at the boy in front of him. -You did not enter using the shadows, right?
-I can make the shadow trip if I want, Solace. A trip so short is not a problem for my health. -He answered rolling his eyes while he brought his hamburger to his mouth.
