Hwayugi fanfic (Korean odyssey) : Guardian

Work part 4

"I think that if you are truly injured, then other assistants from the company are very willing to provide you with care and support. Mr. Kim, please let go. I'm just a temporary assistant." There's a hint of anger boiling up inside her.

His lips tighten into a smile and his grip loosens.

She retracts her hand but she feels like she's enveloped in icy cold air. She looks towards him but the feeling is gone in the next instance as if nothing happened.

"I'm......going to grab your clothes for you." She quickly runs past him as if she's trying to escape.

He is left alone in the office.

His morning schedules were all canceled, leaving him with nothing to do.

He scans the surrounding. There are no assistants around either, they are probably busy dealing with what happened in the morning.

He walks up to her laptop, opens it and starts looking through her browser history.

These articles.....some he is familiar to and some are not.

He pauses for a second and a hint of playful smile crawls up to his face.

It looks like......he's going to get busted soon.........What should he do??

He sits down on the sofa and crosses his legs. He takes out a pack of cigarette and not long after, the air is filled with turquoise colored smoke.

He looks at the monkey toy on the sofa and starts grinning.

He speaks to it:

"From now on, you will lose the ability to say what you truly desire. You are now sealed inside this room under my power. If you speak and disobey the rule, you will be backlashed by your loyalty and be incinerated into ashes."

In the next instance, the monkey bounced off the sofa and tries to smash through the window to escape. But the window seems to be sealed by barriers, locked with invisible threads and webs.

The plush smashes against the invisible wall, creating crackling sounds. Shortly after, the monkey toy was burnt and falls to the ground next to his feet.

He lifts his leg and kicks the lifeless toy, flicking cigarette ashes onto the monkey.

"Although I didn't plan to anger the great sage, but who knew that the most tempting thing of the previous Samjang is not her lotus blood, instead, it's......that heart of hers who loves the great sage so dearly." He speaks lowly,

"How interesting would it be if her love for him would disappear?"

He starts to grin while being surrounded by invisible dark smoke.

What......is going on?!

She was going to Kim Bum Chul's house to grab him some clothes, but inside the normal looking 3 level apartment, she found a secret passage inside the closet that collapsed unexpectedly. The passage leads to a room full of plants.

The room looks just like a greenhouse, it displays.....a lot of different plants with different types of flower in bloom. They look beautiful but creepy at the same time.

Each plant has a small bottle hanging on it. It seems like there are lights coming out from inside the bottle, as if it's providing nutrients for the plant. Along with the bottles are photos of Kim Bum Chul with different women........Each plant has a different photo. And in the photos, every woman seems to be smiling and happy.

But this place is so disturbing.

She walks along the small path until she reaches a window. She can't see the outside world through the window and her instinct is screaming to tell her to get out.

Her heart is thumping hard but she reaches a 3-way intersection. In the beginning, there's a plant called lily of the valley. The flower is beautiful and there's a photo hanging on it. It's.....Gong Ae Jung's. The light inside the bottle emits a soft golden shine and the flower is well in bloom. When she walks to the next one, the pot is empty. This is the only pot that doesn't have any plant in it. But the bottle on the fresh soil is emitting a gentle green light. It's small but it's pretty.

There's a very small photo on the pot. She flips it over, the person on the photo is......her........

It's a photo of her back, from the day when she filmed the advertisement......

"Son----"

She can feel danger surging through the air. As she's about to call out his name, a hand suddenly shot out from nowhere and covers her mouth. A man stands behind her. The sense of danger wraps her tightly. And that hand......has a faint cologne scent which she's familiar to.........

Kim-----Kim Bum Chul!!!!

"Are you surprised, Miss Lilian? NO, maybe we should introduce ourselves properly-----Jin Seon Mi, Miss Samjang. Although that was in the past, but, welcome to my collection room."

The scent from his hand is so......odd. He slowly removes his hand but she seems to have lost control of her body and collapses to the floor. Not only can she not speak, her body can't move either.

"Do you like it? This room, these flowers, aren't they pretty? They are called----the flower of love." The man towers over her,

"And this plant was prepared for you specifically. Please don't be concerned. I'm not interested in your lotus blood. So, your life is not in danger. But, I do want something from you, so........"

He lowers his body and grabs the bottle. A vine starts to grow from inside, slowing turning into a silver ring.

Under her silent gaze, he takes off her current ring and buries it in the soil inside the pot. And replaces it with the new silver ring.

"Whenever you receive that person's love or love what you love, your love, will become nutrients. From now on each and every second, those love will be transferred onto me. You will love me just like the flowers that are nurtured by your love......When someone falls in love with someone, there's always an end. It will not last forever whether your love is for the great sage or me.......So before time runs out, let us all enjoy."

"Give it to me, give me the love you have for the person."

"Love me........Miss Samjang."

Kim Bum Chul caresses her hair and smiles. As if she's been put under a spell, she looks at him hazily and slowly closes her eyes.
