PLEASE READ THE SECOND CHAPTER AFTER THIS BECAUSE THIS CHAPTER IS ( I ADMIT) A LITTLE BORING BECAUSE ITS LIKE AN INTRO.

Hi!! This is my first story on here and since i'm new and haven't got anyone reading it yet, i thought i'd see how many like the way i write, and perhaps if you'd like me to continue then i will :) i know its a short chapter with block paragraphs but its more of a introduction and if you like it, then i'll get properly stuck into it making it way more interesting. Let me know what you think, please please comment and i welcome any criticisms :) Thanks for reading!!

Prologue

As a child, most of us believed in witches, werewolves and vampires. Those who cackled, had insanely cool magical powers, amazing stamina, and ran crazy fast. But as we grew up, we no longer believed in them, nor the Tooth Fairy, nor Santa Clause. But at nineteen years old, my belief in this world was changed by facts. I knew they existed in our seemingly normal planet. My life changed too- for good and for bad.

Chapter 1

It was unusually crowded when i reached the station to get on the train leaving from London to Newhaven. Glancing at my watch, I sighed. I was a little earlier than expected. Reluctantly, I tugged at my belongings and and finally reached a sensible spot on the platform away as far as possible from the bustling crowd.

I wasn't particularly keen on starting my first year at University. It meant Summer had officially ended and England was going to be mostly dull and dark for the next few months. We were all gearing up for the Autumn, with work and studies kicking its way back into our daily lives.

Out of habit, my hand reached a defined curl in my hair as I gently twirled it repeatedly around my finger, hoping that the train would just hurry up. Scanning the area I noticed fresh looking tourists with big bulky bags and cameras looking deep into their maps; business men and women using their state of the art mobile phones; and of course groups of students of all ages presumably making their way to schools, colleges and universities.

I let out a long, deep breath, and glanced once again at my watch: 7:30am. Luckily, the distant sound of the rattling train got louder and louder as it came closer to the platform. There was a buzz of excitement as everyone scrambled about to gather their belongings. I managed to tug my suitcases onto the train before the entrance was blocked by people cramming inside all at once.

I went straight to the designated area for baggage, barging into others along the way, and put my suitcases in the corner where I could keep my eyes on them. I sat down by a seat next to a window and leaned back, the floor making creaking noises as I shuffled my feet to get in a comfortable position. Waiting for the train to board all passengers, I looked at the walls which were supposed to be painted white, but managing to look ugly and dirty with the enormous amounts of graffiti on them. I couldn't help but laugh at what some people had written, most of them swear words and sexual innuendos.

The seats around me were getting filled up pretty quickly, and the only seat empty was to my left. I didn't want anyone to sit there, I hated not having my own little bubble. I'm not afraid to admit i get a little paranoid sometimes. I reached into my bag, took out my phone, and tuned in to the radio. I deliberately placed my bag on the seat next to me and closed my eyes hopefully to fall asleep. Not thirty seconds later, something lightly tapped my shoulder. Slightly annoyed, I opened my eyes and saw myself looking into a pair of deep blue eyes.

He coughed, "Excuse me, hi, is it possible for me to sit here?"

I snapped back to reality, "Hey, sure, sorry!" I replied moving my bag from the seat. As he sat down I couldn't help but think how good looking he was. His skin was flawless and his jaw was.. manly? That's right. Chiselled. I looked at his eyes again and realised how tired they looked. He coughed again, this time looking at me like I was weird. I blushed as the train started to move.

"I'm Skye," he stuck out his hand, "pleasure to meet you." He grinned revealing a set of perfectly white teeth.

Nodding my head, I shook his hand, "I'm Elena, nice to meet you too."

"Pretty name."

I was clearly aware that my face was blushing even more. "Thanks."

He coughed again. I looked up wanting to know what he wanted. He smirked, and said "Sorry I have a bit of a cold." I giggled at how cute he said that.

"So, Elena, what brings you onto this train?"

"Well, unfortunately, I start uni in a few days and-"

"Me too! Well there's only one uni there so I guess it's the same one. Which course?"

Wow. How odd that I just met someone from my university.. Glad I met someone before i got there.

"Dentistry."

His eyes widened and he looked impressed. "Congrats, thats amazing. Plenty of money when you graduate then, eh?" He wriggled his eyebrows at me and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Sure. How about you?"

"I'm doing mechanics. The maths is a bitch though."

"Tell me about it, I dropped maths a couple of years ago, I couldn't stand it."

"Yeah.. Well good to know someone before we get there."

And with that his head lolled to the side and I heard his light snoring. I sighed. I couldn't understand how men fell asleep so easily. My dad was worst of them all. If he could place his head anywhere he would be sleeping within a few seconds. I let out a soft chuckle and realised how badly I missed my parents and sister back at home. I only saw them an hour ago before I left them to catch the train. My mum had made me swear to call her as soon as I got to my room in halls.

I reached across to the floor and grabbed my shoulder bag adjusting it behind my head. I leaned back on my seat and looked out the window as the outside world rushed past in a blur. I was comfortable, and it would be a pretty good time to nap, I thought to myself, as my eyes flickered shut in no time.
