Proverbs 18:20 GOD'S WORD Translation (GW)

20 A person's speaking ability provides for his stomach.
His talking provides him a living.

The bible contains God's thoughts. When we study the word of God, we study about the nature of God. That is why the bible has such power over our lives. It is not an ordinary book. It is the power of God. God's ways are higher than our ways.

We are spirit beings. The body is the outward package. The real you lives in that body. As spirit beings, we have the ability to speak life over dead things. We function by making right confessions. The bible says that God made us in His image. There is a part of God in us. God created the entire world by speaking. He spoke to the darkness that covered the entire world. Everything He said came to be. He spoke life over lifeless materials. He shows us what to do with our mouths from the beginning of time. God is so great that He existed before time. He is the eternal God. Time means nothing to Him. Yet time governs us. God can go back to your past and fix whatever is broken. None of us can do that.

Making the right confessions comes by having the right belief system. What we believe about ourselves matters. Today people fight against those that threaten their beliefs. Sometimes we see our defense mechanisms at work when someone talks about our beliefs. What we believe gives us something to live for. We believe in Christ. That is why we identify as Christians. If we never believed, why would we pray to God anyway? It is also important to know what we believe about ourselves. We study the bible and yet we still doubt if God can do what He says. It seems somewhat superstitious to think something can happen out of making the right confessions. Being human, we want an explanation for everything that happens.

Numbers 14:28 GOD'S WORD Translation (GW)

28 So tell them, 'As I live, declares the Lord, I solemnly swear I will do everything to you that you said I would do.

God is saying He can only do what He hears us say. If we keep quiet, nothing happens. If praying is the only thing you can do, you have done a lot. If you believe that God does what He says, confess and quote scriptures to support your words. Make confessions about being the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. When you do that, you make it more tangible for yourself. The bible says a man's talking provides his living. Make those confessions even when people think you might be crazy.

35 Jesus told them, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never become hungry, and whoever believes in me will never become thirsty. – John 6:35

Jesus made the right confessions. He never said he would become the bread of life after his death. He simply said he was the bread of life. The Pharisees thought he was blasphemous by saying such kind of things. They got angry because of what He confessed.

6 Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me. – John 14:6

Jesus knew a thing about confessing. It is powerful. It is not old plain talk. It does something. You will also declare a thing,
And it will be established for you;
So light will shine on your ways. – Job 22:28

Do not be afraid to trust God by making the right confessions about your circumstances. Speak into lifeless situations. God hears you.

Prayer

Father, I thank you. You are great and mighty. Lord, show me how to make the right confessions. I am the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. I am an ambassador of Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, amen.
