brandon saw a glimpse of mackenzie's hair disappearing through the door and he hurried to catch up with her.
"what do you want, brandon?" she asked him, sighing as he approached her. "why do you hate me so much?" he asked her.
"are you kidding me?" mackenzie stopped short, and turned around to stare at brandon.
"what?" he shrugged.
"are you being serious right now? brandon! you freaking stole my song!" mackenzie glared at him.
"that was five years ago!" brandon protested.
"that could have been my big break! you stole it! and i don't exactly hate you. i freaking detest you." mackenzie glared furiously at him.
brandon took a step back. he had never seen mackenzie this mad. mackenzie realising, took a deep breath. "i'm sorry. i guess i'm still a little upset about my breakup with johnny," she apologised.
"don't worry about it. but please, mackenzie. can we start afresh? please?" brandon asked.
"i'm sorry, brandon. i'm not ready for a new relationship yet. it may seem lame, but i'm serious," mackenzie said.
"not a relationship. a friendship. but we still have to announce our 'relationship.'" brandon made air quotes as he said relationship, sighing as well.
"oh...okay yeah. lets just get it over with," mackenzie said, nodding. brandon and her both got out their phones and posted pictures on their instagram accounts.
they received similar comments; both hate and some shipping the pair.
"well, that's done! now i gotta go. pick me up at 12 tomorrow!" mackenzie said, and she began walking away.
"for what?" brandon asked, confused. "our date," mackenzie said, rolling her eyes.
"oh right. okay. bye." brandon said. mackenzie waved and then she and brandon parted ways.

"are you seriously going on a date with brandon?" annie asked mackenzie for the hundredth time.
"yes. wee wanna try things out again!" mackenzie answered back.
"but why?" lauren asked. "i don't know. he's actually quite nice," she lied. "mhm." annie rolled her eyes. "anyways, is this fine?" she asked, holding up an outfit she had chosen for mackenzie's date.
it was a white crop top with black jeans. "yup! it's perfect. thanks annie, and you too lauren, although you didn't help much." mackenzie stuck out her tongue and lauren, who simply stuck it back out.
"you guys are so immature." annie grinned, slowly picking up a pillow. "say what now?" lauren asked. "and you're not?" mackenzie asked at the same time.
"oh, i didn't say i'm not. PILLOW FIGHT!" annie yelled, throwing a pillow at lauren, who immediately picked it up and threw it back at annie who then threw it at kenzie.
the next half an hour was spent with then in the midst of a full fledged pillow fight. travis had heard the noise from his room, and he too had joint in.
"kenzie? shouldn't you be getting ready?" lauren suddenly asked.
mackenzie looked at her wall clock, and immediately rushed to the washroom to get dressed. she applied some light makeup and then she hurried on to do her hair. she curled it and left it down. finally she was ready.
"kenz. shoes," annie reminded her. "aw man! you should my have reminded her. it would have been hilarious to see her struggling to walk barefoot." travis laughed.
everyone joint in as mackenzie bent down to put on her converse high tops.
just as she was done, the bell rang. "i'll get it!" travis yelled and he bounded down the stairs before anyone could reply.
he rushed to the door and opened it, coming face to face which brandon.
"what do you want, you jerk?" he asked brandon rudely. brandon shrunk back realizing no one in mackenzie's family had forgiven him yet for stealing her song.
"umm...i'm-im here for m-mackenzie." he stuttered, shrinking further under travis's glare, because although travis was younger, he was quite tall for his age, and looked scary when he wanted to.
"i'm sorry! i'm here! i'm here!" mackenzie ran down the stairs breathlessly.
"hey." brandon smiled shyly. mackenzie simply nodded in reply.
"bye travis." she said to her younger cousin. she was about to leave, but he pulled her back. "where are you going with that jerk? what are you doing?" he asked in the cliché overprotective brother manner.
"we're going for a date, travis. now please, let me go." mackenzie answered.
"i swear, if he hurts you, i will kill him with my bare hands." travis glared at brandon who was patiently waiting at the door.
"and i give you permission. but for now, can i go?" she asked travis. he nodded, and mackenzie hurried out, closing the door behind her.
"sorry about that." she apologized to brandon as he opened the passenger seat to his car.
brandon walked to his driver's side, and sat down and said, "it's no problem. i guess i deserve it."
mackenzie didn't know what to say to that, because she agreed, so she changed the subject and asked brandon where they were going.
"it's a surprise!" brandon grinned. mackenzie just nodded. she wasn't going to open up to brandon so easily, or so soon.
