Chapter 25:
The past two months and three weeks has been torture. I was restricted to bed for the past month and I couldn't go anywhere. Xavier has been going to meetings and I couldn't go. This sucked.
I've had more stomach pains and they seem to be getting worse. There's been only one small fight since the last big one. Xavier is prepared for the final one. I know it's coming soon, I can feel it. My wolf has been anxious for the past week. Shes been pacing and on full alert all week. It would keep me up at night. My due date is December 10, which is next week. Of course, I wouldn't have any problem with Dante coming early than that. I just wanted to get this done and over with so I can actually hold him in my arms instead of in my womb.
Xavier was getting anxious. Every time I'd get a pain, he would call up Alex. Alex always says to wait for my water to break, but it still didn't help Xavier relax. I enjoyed having him worry about Dante and I, but he needs to relax a little. I'm just as anxious as he is. I'm terrified of going into labour. I've heard of women dying while giving birth. I didn't want to die. What if something went wrong and Dante died?
"You okay? You look a little scared." Alex came in and sat next to the bed. I groaned and ran my hands down my face. "I am."
"Why are you scared?"
"Because. What if he dies? What if I die? What if -"
"Jezebelle," he cut me off, chuckling. "you'll do just fine. He won't die and you won't die, I promise. If you did die, or Dante, Xavier would kill me." He said and I laughed, nodding. "He would, so would Jace." He nodded and it went silent. All of a sudden, Xavier came barging in. "They're coming. I need you to get you in the safe room. Alex, get everybody else who isn't fighting in there also." My eyes widened and Xavier picked me up. "What? They're coming now?" He jogged down the hall and brought me to the safe room. There were already a few people in here. I saw Jace and Kalyn arguing. I'm guessing Kalyn wasn't going to stay locked up without fighting over it.
Brent and Clarissa were saying their goodbyes and Xavier laid me down on a cot. "It's really happening, isn't it? This I what I've been training for and I'm gunna be locked up in here with a baby that's due next week." He knelt down and cupped my face, resting his forehead against mine. "I'll fight for you, princess. Whatever happens out there, just know that I love you so much. I'm so happy to have you in my life and I'm excited to have Dante become part of it." Tears filled my eyes. "Xavier, stop, you're acting like this will be the last time we ever see each other." He searched my face and I saw pain in the forest green eyes that I fell in love with the first time I saw them.
He put his hands on my stomach and I put my hands on his. Dante kicked and he smiled lightly. "I'm going to fight like I've never fought before, Jezebelle. I'm fighting for you and Dante. I love you both, so much. I'm not leaving you, not ever." He said and smashed his lips against mine. I ran my hands through his silky dark brown hair and moved my lips against his slowly and gently. He pulled away too soon and kissed my forehead. "I'll be back soon, I promise." He murmured and walked out, looking back at me with pained eyes.
Jace came over to me and pulled me against him. "I love you, Jez. I'm so glad I found you when I did." I held onto him tightly. "Jace, you don't have to do this. I don't want to lose you again." He smiled sadly and pressed his lips against the top of my head. "I do have to. I have to show them what white wolves are made of. I'm not going to let them hurt you or anybody else. I'll be back soon. I love you, little sis." He said before walking out. "I love you, too, Jace!" I yelled after him. Klayton slowly came up beside me and sighed. "I'm sorry about hiding everything from you. I just...I didn't know what to do." He said and I held onto his hand, squeezing it gentle. "It's fine, Klayton. I understand. Now go out there and fight. You have it in you, I know you do, so don't let me down." He smiled. "Thanks, cuz. I'll see ya in a bit." He said and left.
