Matchmaking Roommates
Prologue:
"Just an FYI being voted "Most Likely to be successful" doesn't exactly mean you'll be successful. I'm Kasey Peterson, and I was voted most likely to be successful. Now look at me. 3 years after college and I still have no clue what I'm doing. I work at a target on the weekends, and a restaurant during the week. I'm a mess!" The brunette finally yelled and slammed her head into her arms hiding her frustrated expression.
"Oh come on KP, you aren't a mess. It's not easy finding what you want to do for the rest of your life." Jack Cole reminded her as he walked into her bedroom.
"Well how'd you find yours?" She asked. He pondered for a minute as he pulled up a chair beside her.
"Um not entirely sure," He chuckled, "I had applied for several different intern options at different places. I wasn't really looking for a writing job, that's just what happened to be available. I got a call from a friend who worked in the same building as one of my heroes. They had an intern job opening so I applied." Jack finished with a smile.
"Come on you have to keep going now. I want to hear it again." Kasey smiled.
"Isn't this like the 5th time I've told you this story?" He asked. The brunette nodded in response and waited patiently for an answer.
"Well after a few weeks of no response I got a job as a waiter just to get some cash for us. Actually after my first week of work was done they called me back and said I got the job. I ended up keeping both jobs just to keep money rolling in. The intern job isn't really that bad, the people I work with are nice, and were really excited to read my book."He finished with a smirk.
"Your eyes light up when you tell that story." Kasey smiled.
"Aww you were staring?" Jack laughed, "oh don't worry I won't tell anyone."
"Let's go to the cafe." Kasey said.
"Nah, I wanted to go earlier but Lisa was already there."
"Ooh Lisa. Didn't you have a crush on her for maybe, what forever?" Kasey laughed.
"Ha ha very funny. What about Derek, or maybe Josh? Remember him KP?" He laughed.
"Oh shut up Jackie." She muttered.
"What was that?", He questioned putting a hand to his ear, "I'm sorry I couldn't hear you."
"Never mind." She said standing.
"Oh no, you aren't getting away that easy." He replied wiggling his fingers to symbolize what was coming.
"Jack Cole I swear to god. You keep those hands away from me." Kasey warned backing herself into a wall.
"Hm mm. Whatever you say KP." He smirked and approached her. Laughs and giggles were heard before crashing and sighs of pain spread across the room.
"What happened?" Lacie asked. She saw the two on the floor, Jack on top of Kasey.
"Get a room you two." She said.
"We do, this is it." Jack said, his smirk only visible to Kasey who was holding in laughter. Lacie sighed, shook her head, and left the room.
"Why do we still let her live with us?" Jack asked.
"She's my cousin, and she doesn't exactly know what she wants either. Until the day comes that she can take care of herself she can come stay with us when she has no where else to go."
"I can't have fun when she's around." Jack whined.
"Jack, you can get off of me now." Kasey whined.
He smirked and put his hands on either side of her so he was hovering over her. He pecked her lips once before getting up and offering her his hand.
She pulled herself up with his help and walked back over to her computer. He followed her and sat in her chair, she sighed and tried to protest. However, Jack had different plans. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his lap. She shook her head and stared at the screen, now remembering she was still in fact doing a live feed.
"Wow, 100 views already. Nice."
"They want to hear your story." Jack smiled.
"Which one?" She asked turning towards him.
"Don't ask me." He shrugged.
"Ughhhhh." She groaned.
"Alright KP, why not start from the beginning?" Jack said, "Just saying if you want to tell them about how much of a mess you are, you kind of have to explain how it happened, right?"
"Right."
