The Council (no POV )

The council all sat together at an oval table. They were the protectors and maintainers of the shield that protected their land. The council members were pure elementals representing the elements. There was pure Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Light, Shadows, and Spirit.

She had called the meeting into place. She was the pure spirit elemental and headmistress to their training school. She said she had great news. She calmly sat down before everyone as they looked at her curiously waiting to hear the news she urgently needed to tell them. She stood up and clasped her hands in front of her chest. She smiled kindly and said, "Welcome all, I have called everyone here today to tell you I have found a pure light elemental adolescent in need to be enrolled in our school."

The other elementals faces lit up in excitement hearing that there was a young, pure elemental out there.

The elemental for Earth asked in her usual soft voice, "Do you know how old the new student is?"

The headmistress just shook her head saying, "I do not know much about the teen. I only know the coordinates to the location. It is in one of the human segregations."

The light elemental smirked saying, "I wasn't sure if I would have a pure light successor."

Kol, the Shadows council member, looked around at everyone at the table as they talked about which rogues to send. He looked slightly interested at the conversations going on. He looked at Iris, the headmistress as she gave a small smile and moved her brown hair out of her face. Her silky, purple dress showed off her legs to her peachy skin. Kol flicked his eyes upward not meaning to be looking at her legs. His eyes moved to the only other female in the room, Hestia. Hestia is the Earth council member, she wore fur and and held her brown hair in a large bun. Kol looked at the member next to her, Aaden. He had long hair on his head but none on his face. He wore rugged, leather armor and for the fire council member he was a pretty nice guy. Feeling like he was being watched he looked at Casper, the air council member. Casper looked away, his white hair flopped over the side of his face. Kol saw Marshall behind him, his tan skin showed from under the small sash draped across his upper chest. He was the water council member and he was showing no expression as he watched boredly. Then the light elemental stood up himself. His light hair swayed at his shoulders as Raiden asked, "Do you want to tell the other students or keep it as a surprise."

Iris shook her head and said, "To get everything ready for the new arrival I need to tell them. Does anyone have any other questions?" Everyone shook their heads and she replied with, "Alright then, this meeting is adjourned. The rogues will be sent out immediately.

Lux's POV

Walking through the crowded marketplace is always a challenge for me. Almost everyone around me could see me do my weird thing any second now. I have always been different from everyone else. I can sometimes glow when I get stressed, nervous, or hurt. No one else can and my father has made that abundantly clear. He loves me and is just trying to keep me safe from everyone else's hateful opinions and assaults. People here do not like anything that has been mutated from the radiation after the war.

I squeezed through the beginning of the marketplace past people who were looking at the tents, talking to friends or family, and laughing with them. I smiled sadly at this fact. Since I was born I only had my father, brother, and gram to take care of me. My mother had passed away while giving birth to me and gram died a couple of years ago. My father is mostly busy at work and doesn't come home until very late. This left my brother and I alone together for most of the day. We even had a routine together. Wake up, make breakfast for ourselves and dad, get ready for school, walk to school, get home at different times, do homework, and hang out until dinner. But he is older than me and joining the army. This means I have been alone for awhile but I have gotten used to it.

I walked off of the straight path onto a turn. As I walked I saw where all the small houses lined in rows stood. I looked at my worn, light blue house and sighed. I got up the two brick steps and unlocked the door to my house. I walked into the living room and huffed. I had gotten hungry and wanted to eat a snack. I looked in the pantry and saw a small loaf bread. I smiled thinking, "Oh i'll just put this in the oven to heat up." I put the bread in and turned on the oven for ten minutes. I sighed and closed my eyes.

Today at school, the girls who are not to be trusted tried to make me sit with them. I did not want any trouble so I just said I had to use the bathroom. In reality I went back to my classroom and sat in my desk. I had gotten a book out from my bag and started to read it again. This book had a teen girl who was madly in love with another teen boy. She wanted to make him hers but he didn't notice her too often. The book is about how she tries to get him to notice her and how she tries to get him to go on a date with her. I thought about what it would be like to be in love with someone. To look and blush at him, not be able to hold back an occasional stutter, to be interested in everything he says, and him being interested in everything I say. Ding

The oven timer went off and I went to get the bread and put it on the table. A loud VVVVRROOOOOOM could be heard as I reached into the oven. I grabbed the loaf of bread and stood up. But when I stood up three knocks came from the door. I ran over with my hand holding the loaf out and opened the door wide enough to be in reach of my hand on the other side of me. There were two teens around my age but both different ages. One had a buzz cut and a long, crooked nose, black hair, and was about three times the size of the other. The other was short with and elvish look to him. He had a softer more friendlier face than the taller one who looked gruff.

No POV

Lux looked at the two in her doorway confused on why two young men were standing there in leather. "C-c-can I um help you two," She asked still holding the extremely hot loaf.

The shorter one began to speak to Lux saying, "Hello, we are looking for someone that..." He looked at the taller one and asked, "What does the person do?"

"Glow," Responded the older male looking down at the younger one. They had both taken their attention off of Lux long enough for her hand to start singeing from the bread.

"G-glow?!?" Lux said this in a panic that both males picked up on.

The older male started to speak asking, "So you do know something about a glowing person?"

Lux shook her head and went to close the door but when she did the smaller boy pointed out, "Oh! Your hand!"

Lux looked at her hand and saw it was burning she quickly slammed the door shut and went into the kitchen. She put the bread on the counter and cradled her hand to her chest. The hand had started to glow and she sighed. She knew that she wasn't getting healed but it was going to be protected from any further harm. The door creaked open and the younger one said, "Zacharia you should knock!"

"She does not want to go and this isn't an option Gavin," The older one said walking into the kitchen doorway.

Zacharia looked down at her and a surprised look son painted his face. Lux's fear showed as she looked up at him, still trying to hold her hand to her chest. Gavin got in between them and grabbed her glowing hand. "You're glowing, you're the person we are looking for."

Zacharia grabbed her arm saying, "Let's go," tugging at it as she instantly resisted and yelled, "LET GO I'M NOT GOING WITH YOU!"

Gavin tried to deescalate the situation by saying, "Zacharia let go lets at least explain to her where we are talking her."

Zacharia said, "We'll tell her on the way," he grunted pulling harshly again.

"Why," Gavin demanded pulling closer to him. "She's obviously scared and her breathing has increased.

"Someone could come for her any minute now!"

"She should at least know she's safe!"

"HOW WOULD SHE KNOW WE ARE NOT LYING TO HER?"

"SHE"LL JUST HAVE TO TRUST US, MAYBE SHE WILL BELIEVE US?"

"I'M NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES WE ARE GOING."

As the two teens yelled Lux's breathing increased more. She was trying to get back her hand as they pulled aggressively. She had no idea what was going and was getting increasingly scared. But the next she knew was that everything went black.
