Everything seemed peaceful , the night was silent and the moon was shining bright . The sky seemed like an ocean full of stars and the song that was playing in the radio flooded my car filling the silence of the night.

The moon was abnormally large tonight and it bathed the earth with it's luminous glow. I was driving in my car alone , trying to get to my house as fast as possible. My family had suggested that we should spent the weekend in our summer cottage surrounded by forests .We had such an amazing time there that they decided to extend our visit but college started in a few weeks and I wanted to get back home so I would have plenty of time to prepare.
Driving alone wasn't a new concept to me but it was my first time that I drove through a forest at midnight. The huge branches of the trees spiked into the sky . It was so dark I was barely able to see the road ahead.
Suddenly my phone started ringing, I checked the caller ID and saw that my mom was calling . "Hey" I said once I picked up my phone, turning off the song that was currently playing on the radio "Hey baby , I just wanted to check up you " " I am fine mom " I said rolling my eyes at her , my mom was super protective, sometimes excessively so. " Don't roll your eyes at me young lady " she responded. How the fuck does she even ... nevermind "I wasn't " I tell her , the lie slipping through my teeth easily . "I know that you were baby, don't forget who birthed you " she said . This woman is incredible , I can't even blink without her knowing. "You know mom.." I started to tell her but suddenly my phone slipped through my fingers . Shit I cursed while I tried to find my phone . A pretty easy job if you take into consideration the fact that the only source of light was the moon . "Veronica , Veronica do you hear me ? " my mother asked as I was dunking low in order to catch my phone . I blindly moved my fingers around trying to locate my cellphone ,while i kept my other hand on the steering wheel so I wouldn't crash. Found it I said to myself as soon as my fingers touched the screen . Once I caught it I rised up from the position I was only to see a car in the opposite direction swerve out of control and come into my line . I tried to avoid it I really did but I couldn't. My body jerked to the dashboard, my forehead colliding painfully with the window. The head- on collision was so powerful that I became disorientated, drifting in and out of consciousness constantly. I was aware of the bloody taste in my mouth but in that moment I couldn't figure out what it was . For a while I thought that I must be back at home in bed because of how dark it was . But why was there so much pain ? I really tried to free myself only to be rewarded with more pain . And as laid there the only thing that filled the silence of the night was my moms screams coming through the phone .
