"Whenever you have time to work on it. We can exchange numbers if you want." I replied putting my messenger bag on my shoulder.
He puts his book bag on his back and says getting his phone out of his pocket, "Sure, give me your phone I'll put my number in."
I get my phone out and hand it to him, he hands me his phone. I put my name and number in his phone and hand it back to him, he follows suit. I slide my phone back into my pocket and head toward the exit, "See ya, Jaime."
I head to my locker and put my chemistry book away. I grab my math book and head to the Math room. I take my seat and prepare for the worse. Let's just say I'm not good at math. Chemistry and Bio is a different story.

After school, I head to the library and check out some books needed for my research paper. I know it's due in like a few weeks but who knows what will happen between now and then. I might get more hours at work or dad might need my help or something. Mrs. Hammer is having us write a research paper on whatever we want to write it on so I'm writing it on criminal psychology.
I grab the books I need and head to librarians desk. Once there I lay the books on the table and she proceeds to check them out, "Student I.D please."
I hand her my I.D and she scans it. After scanning it she places it on top of the books I checked out and replies, "Have a nice day, Winter."
"I will, you too Mrs. Shoemaker." I say picking up my books.
I hug the books to my chest and then make my way out of the library. I'm so glad that our school gets out earlier than the elementary, it gives me plenty of time to head over in that direction and pick up my little sister Deana.
After putting my books in my bag I head outside and start walking in the direction of the elementary school. It only takes me a good seven minutes to get there. As soon as my little sister sees me she runs over to me and hugs me asking, "Can we please go home?"
"Yeah, in a minute. I'm gonna talk to Ms. Farley really quick." I reply hugging her back. "Why don't you go and wait on the bench, it won't take long I promise."
She pulls away from me and nods, then runs over to the bench and sits down. A somewhat sad expression covers her face. Hm...I wonder what happened today. I walk over to her teacher and when she sees me she says, "Hi, Winter, how are are you?"
"Um, I'm good." I state, her perky attitude giving me the chills. "I was curious if something happened to Deana today. She seems upset."
Ms. Farley's facial expression changes as she replies, "Today wasn't one of her good days. Her behavior seemed normal up until recess, I think something may have happened. She wouldn't tell me what was wrong so I just let her be."
"I'll talk to her, if I get anything then I'll let you. Thank you for telling me. Goodbye, Ms. Foley." I reply turning around and walking towards Deana who sits on the bench.
I squat down so I'm face to face with my little sister and ask, "You want me to make you an ice cream sundae when we get home?"
A small smile tugs at her lips, mission accomplished. She gets off the bench and takes my hand, we start to head towards home. When we get home I do what I promised and make her one of my famous sundaes.
Halfway through the sundae, she says with a sad expression on her face, "Jimmy and Tom were picking on me again..."
"What did they say?" Deana stays quiet causing me to ask again, this time my words came harsher than what I was going for. "Deana what did they say to you?!"
"They just made fun of me because we had to read out loud in groups and my dyslexia got in the way." She replies, her voice was so sad.
I get up from my chair and walk over to her. Wrapping my arms around her I pull her closer to me. Sobs escape her lips and on instinct, I pull her closer to me. "It's okay, I'll take care of it."
As I rub her back I just mutter the same words over and over again, "It's okay."
She ends up falling asleep in my arms. I pick her up and carry her to her room that's right across the hall from mine. Heading back into the kitchen I start to look in the fridge and the cabinets for stuff to make for dinner.
I'm going to have a talk with Jimmy and Tom's mother when my father got home. They weren't going to get away with bullying my little sister.
Not again.
