"There you go, perfect!" Jaggedscar congratulated her.
"That was amazing, Mistypaw!" Hollypaw exclaimed. "You thought of it before even I did!"
"Uh, yeah." Mistypaw replied awkwardly. Hollypaw sometimes spoke to her, but she had never really paid any attention to the young tom.
Mistyheart could feel a huge smile on her face. Hollyberry had always been watching her and keeping an eye on her, even before she had cared for him.
"Uh, Mistyheart, are you daydreaming again?" Hollyberry asked. "Is it about me?"
"Of course it is." Mistyheart purred. Hollyberry would never know she spoke the truth. Suddenly, a strange scent hit her. It didn't smell like any of her Clanmates. She didn't say anything, but turned to Hollyberry, wondering whether he had picked it up as well.
"What is that smell?" Hollyberry meowed in surprise. "We had better go check it out." He raced through the trees, moving in swift bounds. Mistyheart ran at his side, struggling to breathe. He's fast!
Mistyheart slowly overtook her Clanmate, much to her surprise and amusement. Following the scent, she was shocked when, after racing around another bush, she found something she had not expected to see.
"Uh, Hollyberry?" Mistyheart mewed, fur fluffing up and spiking in shock. "There are kits here!"
"Kits? Oh great StarClan, what are they doing here?" Hollyberry meowed in shock, shoving past Mistyheart and heading towards the kits swiftly.
There were two kits, a she cat and a tom. They both had sandy fur.
Oh StarClan, please let them be okay!
"We need to take them straight back to camp, they look so young!" Hollyberry exclaimed. "Mistyheart, can you take the she cat? I'll carry the tom."
The she cat was surprisingly heavy, probably due to her muscular build and unusually large size. However, Mistyheart had no intentions of asking Hollyberry for help. He was already rushing in the direction of the camp.
Mistyheart followed more slowly, taking care as she carried the kit. She didn't especially like kits, but that was no reason not to protect them. Her heart pounded in fear. The kits looked fairly healthy, but she was still worried. They're only kits! Their eyes aren't even open yet.
It seemed like moons had passed by the time Hollyberry and Mistyheart had reached the camp. They were greeted by shocked yowls.
"Kits?" Palestar meowed in surprise. "Oh, thank StarClan you found them when you did! I trust you can take care of them, Hollyberry!"
"I'll try." Hollyberry's fear scent was strong.
"Is there any way I can help?" Mistyheart asked.
Hollyberry shrugged, thinking for several moments. "There isn't much either of us can do... wait, can you fetch Songflight? I'll keep the kits warm until then."
Mistyheart mewed nervously, "Uh, okay?" She didn't really speak to Songflight much, and the queen was incredibly unsociable. She pretty much refused to talk to anyone after the loss of Swiftpaw, Olivepaw, and her younger kits.
She headed for the nursery, guessing that Songflight would still be there. Songflight had agreed she would only eat parsley to stop her milk and leave the nursery once the scent of her kits was completely gone from her bedding.
"Songflight?" she spoke hesitantly, pelt prickling nervously. "Hollyberry's asking for you."
Songflight turned her face around, glaring at Mistyheart. "He can wait."
