My dad isn't letting me see Gus as much. He thinks he's a bad boyfriend because of what happened with my nubbins and all. My mom tried and tried again to talk to him but he won't here it. So I have to sneak around.

I jump when my phone vibrates

Gus: Hi

Me: Hey, what's up?

Gus: I miss you

Me: I miss you too. we should meet up somewhere.

Gus: But your dad?

Me: I'll tell him I'm going for a walk in the park.

Gus: Okay, that sounds good.

Me: Does 2:30pm at Funky Bones sound good?

Gus: Perfect. Can't wait.

Me: See you :)

Gus: :)

I sigh.

After I shower, get dressed and eat some breakfast I go tell my mom and dad that I want to walk in the park later. They both say its fine so I decide to take a little nap to make 2:30 come faster. I look at the clock and it says 11:23am so I drift off after I set my alarm for 1:40pm.

* 1:40pm *

My eyes fly open and the first thought I have is Gus and his crooked smile and his perfect lips and how I can't wait to kiss him.......

My hair is longer than my shoulders so I just let it hang down because I haven't had this long since I was 13 and it feels nice against my shoulders.

I put on a pair of light mint green shorts and a white, tight fitting shirt that says "Catch a falling star" on it. I look at the time and it's only 1:56pm

I pull out my phone and text Gus.

Me: Are you ready?

Gus: Yeah, want to meet up now?

Me: Yeah, the sooner the better!

I'm going to leave now.

Gus: See you soon, Hazel Grace.

Me: :) see you

I walk out and tell mom I'm leaving and I'll be back in about an hour and a half. She smiles and whispers in my ear,

"Gonna meet up with you-know-who?"

"Yeah," I look at her but her expression is calm and happy.

"Just be careful."

"Always."
