"I told you not to date any guy! You didn't listen to me!"

The voice of your dad echoed in the whole house, sealing everyone's lips in an instant. Your mom who have been watching the scene decided to stay in the bedroom. Even Daniel, your twin brother, couldn't say anything to back you up. No one had the courage to speak up when the old man boiled in anger.

Your boyfriend, Ong Seongwoo just dumped you and your dad found out about it.

He forbade you from dating any guy since you were little but when someone you have a major crush on confessed to you, you ended up breaking the rule.

"I—I just want to be like my friends." You stuttered, lips shaking.

Like the sound of lightning striking the cloud, a hand crashed against your face. The sudden slap burned the left side of your cheek, turning you speechless. Tears had started to form on your eyes. Not because of the stinging blow, but the heart was breaking.

"Such a useless daughter." He growled with a very deep frown on his face.

He then left the scene while you ran out of the house. Your feelings were in a total mess. The breakup, the slap, never had crossed your mind to encounter them.

"I hate you dad." You sobbed while leaning against the gate. That's what your mind said, but obviously not your heart.

"Hey,"

A strange voice greeted you from behind making you jumped in shock. When you chin up, something weird was staring at you up from the wall that separates your house and the neighbour's.

"What the heck are you?" You frowned while constantly wiping the tears off your face.

"What am I? I'm a human, okay? I'm just wearing a mask." He chuckled.

He was obviously a man as he have a very deep voice— or was it because of the mask that he was wearing?

He tilted his head before asking, "Why are you crying?"

"None of your business, stranger." You replied short and once again, he let out a chuckle.

"I'm not a stranger, you know me."

You were about to take the mask off his face but he quickly dodged and vanished from your sight. A loud thump could clearly be heard from the other side of the wall. He must've been standing on something but fell off when trying to dodge you. Not too long after that, he showed up again.

"You really know me, Kang Seren."

The moment he said your name gave you goosebumps.

"You even know my name? You're creepy."

"You're gonna take your words back if you see my handsome face." He laughed.

"Then show me your face."

The masked man turned quiet for awhile.

"Not yet. I'll see you again. Bye." He waved his hand, then vanished.

"Wait!" You yelled and tried to jump to peek on him but the wall was too high for you.

The gate flew open and you quickly ran outside. Through the gate, you spotted him entering the house next to yours.

The house had been empty for a long time. No one had been living there for years. And the person who once lived there was a boy,

..who claimed himself as your anpanman.
