Chapter One

|The Frost|

Now here I was, getting ready to ride to my death staring down at my partner of many years. "Stay safe." He said up to me, a hand on my leg, trying to comfort me. "Have fun making company with the rabbits," I said rolling my eyes. "I'll tell you the name of every bunny I meet." He said a smile gracing his lips. I looked down at him, my eyes going soft due to his gaze, "I hope you get the chance too." I said placing a hand on the side of his face.

His beautiful lightly tanned skin underneath my fingers. I couldn't help the smile that snuck itself onto my face. He grabbed my hand with one of his own his large bear hands, fully covering mine. I saw him as a sibling and a loyal friend, there is a bond between us that simply cannot be broken. Not if I can help it at least.

"You aren't going to die, so stop acting like it." He said his smile turning into a frown, his gaze turning hard.

"I know," I said pinching the side of his cheek. His red hair and a peaceful smile that went up to his lovely blue eyes. I could gaze into them for years, maybe then will those eyes wash away my dirtied soul. They always gave me the feeling of peace and kindness, the pleasure I was never given.

"Stay safe." He said again, I know he wanted me to say it back to him, though the words couldn't come out of my mouth.

No instead my awkward self made out the words, "don't die."

I placed my hands on the reins of my horse. The reigns felt like shackles, knowing that there was no turning back.

There never was the option of turning back. Not from the second, I was carried onto these god-forsaken grounds.

I looked down at him one more time. Knowing that this might be the last time I ever see him. I saw his smile. 'Keep being the sun,' I thought to him and I kicked my horse into motion. I never felt his eyes leave my back until I was fully out of his sight.

It made me realize that I truly didn't mind that he was the only one who saw me off.

I have been on this trail for what seems to be hours, days, weeks. Though I knew the sun was setting when I left and now the sun was only coming back up for the tenth time. I had tracked through the night, and I would keep tracking till the sun goes back down again.

Throughout all of it, there was no denying it, it was slowly but surely becoming colder and colder. So I knew, I was getting closer and closer to my hell.

I looked down at my freckled white steed and rubbed his mane as we trotted. I was to the point that I could almost not ignore the pain that was occurring in between my legs anymore. This feeling was expected for the time I had been sitting for.

Every once in a while I would take my legs out of the stirrups and stretch them out, so I could avoid cramps for as long as possible.

The sound of metal clashing against each other was getting annoying now, but it was bearable to live with it.
