"So, how are you all doing?" Scarlet asked, waving a paw cheerfully. Mistyheart wondered whether the young sandy she cat was aware that she wasn't quite being included. Yes, they came here to meet her, but she knew nothing of the prophecy. And neither does Palestar, Vincent or Snowy. She felt guilty, though she didn't believe it was time to tell them yet.
"Fine." Mistyheart answered. An absolute lie, but what was the point in going into the details? She was surprised when she saw what looked like sympathy flashing in Scarlet's eyes, and the rogue opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but then closed it again, sighing a little.
"If you say so," she mewed hesitantly, before adding more brightly, "Where's Seedheart?"
Mistyheart immediately stepped back, feeling awkward. She glanced at Gorsepelt - the brown tabby's eyes were narrowed. Goldenblaze simply looked confused.
"She's gone," Lizardclaw answered calmly, and Scarlet looked shocked. He added, "I don't mean dead! She just doesn't want to stay with us anymore."
I'm pretty sure she wanted to stay. She seemed heartbroken at the idea of leaving, but she left anyway. I think she was just really angry.
Scarlet looked disappointed, but then brightened up again. "Well, I guess that's her decision. Maybe she just got sick of you lot? She can still attend our meetings though, can't she?"
Lizardclaw sighed a little. "I'm not sure whether she'll want to."
Mistyheart exchanged a glance with Hollyberry. It was hard to tell what he was thinking, but it was clear he was deep in thought. Oh StarClan, if it is your will, please let Seedheart attend our meetings!
Before anything else could be said, there was a mew from behind Mistyheart. "Hi, everyone." Ashfire padded over. Mistyheart noticed Goldenblaze and Gorsepelt sharing a worried glance. Did something happen to Ashfire?
She muttered a quick hello to the grey tabby before staring at the entrance again, kneading the ground impatiently. They were still waiting for Minnowpelt!
Mistyheart forced herself to stop staring at the entrance and instead focus on the casual conversation of the rest of the gathered cats. It was clear that Goldenblaze was growing impatient. The ginger and white tom was digging his claws frustratedly into the ground, growling as Scarlet told jokes, Gorsepelt being the only one laughing.
"Hi." Mistyheart heard the familiar voice of Minnowpelt behind her, and spun her head around. Thank StarClan!
"Hey." Mistyheart replied, looking the tortoiseshell in the eyes for several moments. The RiverClan warrior tried to nudge Hollyberry away from Mistyheart, but the ginger tom simply glared at her. "Find somewhere else to sit, you late furball."
Minnowpelt narrowed her eyes at her brother and settled down on the other side of him, offering Mistyheart a smile.
Goldenblaze looked relieved. ''Finally, you're all here. Firstly, I have some good news. I'll be right back!" He padded into the twoleg nest, looking a little wary as he did so, ears flattening against his head. Mistyheart watched him go, feeling confused. She turned to look at Scarlet - the she cat looked very excited for some reason.
Time passed very slowly, when suddenly, Goldenblaze emerged from the nest again, a grey and white tom trailing behind him. Mistyheart recognised him in an instant. "Vincent?" She whispered softly.
"Mistyheart, it's me." Her brother answered, confidently walking over to her as though he had perfect eyesight.
"Vincent!" she wailed like a kit, "Oh, thank StarClan!" She pressed herself against her brother, pressing her head into his fur, sobbing with happiness. She could feel her fur burning with embarrassment at being so emotional in front of everyone, but Vincent was alive. Hollyberry had been right, Hollyberry's dream had been right. Oh, thank StarClan! Thank StarClan so very much! They really are real! Thank you StarClan, for sparing my brother, Vincent, and for protecting him!
