This is one of my favorite poetry forms and one of the first I'd learned. It's really dear to me. I consider it a wonderful start to discover the world of form poetry and how fascinating and magical it is. I hope you enjoy reading.

A Cinquain is a short, usually unrhymed poem consisting of (22syllables) distributed as (2, 4, 6, 8, 2) in (5) lines. It was developed by the poet, Adelaide Crapsey.
There are other forms of the Cinquain poem which are accepted as well.
Word count Cinquain: Line 1: 1 word Line 2: 2 words Line 3: 3 words Line 4: 4 words Line 5: 1 word
Didactic Cinquain (parts of speech)
Line 1: A noun (the title) Line 2: 2 adjectives describing the noun. Line 3: 3 verbal nouns (ing- words) Line 4: 4 word phrase describing feelings Line 5: one word, synonymous with the first line or referring to it.
