Thalia was wearing her clothes from the night before. From my dressing table, I picked up a perfume bottle shaped like an owl and dapped some peppermint scent behind each of my ears.

"I don't see why you couldn't have just caught the thing and released it back inside."
"It had to die, to serve as an example to the others."
Thalia rolled her eyes.
Our conversation ended with a knock on the door. It was Katie the maid.
"Miss Annabeth, may I come in?" She asked.
I opened the door for her.
"What is it, Katie?" I answered.
"Someone's on the telephone for you, Miss."
"I'll be right down."

I ran downstairs to the front hall and picked up the telephone.
"Good morning, Wise Girl," a familiar voice at the other end said.
"Where are you, Seaweed Brain?" I replied.
"Some little town in upstate New York called Delphi. Our car broke down: the fender and front axle were busted and the mechanic had to send away for some new parts. Looks like we're going to be here for a few days."
"Do you have a place to stay?"
"This farmer and his wife have been nice enough to take us in."
"Be careful. Call me when you're coming home."
"Will do. Love you."
"Love you too."
I hung up the telephone. Thalia came down the stairs.
"Who was that?" she asked.
"Percy," I told her.
"As in Percy Jackson?"
"The one and only."
I then told Thalia about Percy and I and that night at the Lotus Hotel. Thalia smirked and laughed.
"So, our little Annie is all grown up."
"You know I hate being called Annie."
"I'll stop calling you Annie when you stop being scared of spiders."
"Very well then!"
I put on a white hat and lace gloves to go out since we had to go shopping for something for Thalia to wear that night since she had decided to stay for the Olympus Ball.
