The ledge collapses beneath me and I fall. "When Brynjolf brought you before me I could feel a sudden shift in the wind. And at that moment, I knew it would end with one of us at the end of a blade." Mercer's voice bounces off the walls. "Give me the Key, Mercer." I say, my voice showing no emotion. "What's Karliah been filling you head with? Tales of thieves with honor? Oaths rife with falsehoods and broken promises? Nocturnal doesn't care about you, the Key or anything having to do with the Guild." "The difference is I still have honor." "It's clear you'll never see the Skeleton Key as I do... as an instrument of limitless wealth. Instead you've chosen to fall over your own foolish code" As his words echo through the hall, we both draw our swords...

I stand above Mercer Frey, his voice harsh "Kill me already will you?!" I just stand there lost in thought. Maybe I can convince Mercer to mend things with the Guild, to return what he stole. "No..." I say, my voice soft. "And why is that? You think I can return what I stole?" He laughed "I will never-" I groaned slightly, picked him up by the collar and kissed him. "That reason enough for you?" He stared at me blankly. I put him down "You will return what you stole from the Guild or else." My voice harsh as his had been. All he did was nod.

I smiled, lost in the memory. Now our Guild is thriving and I'm the Guild master and Mercer, well... He still has a lot to return. I felt arms warp around my face and smile.
