“You don’t know what I am abou-” I shook my head.

“I do. I totally do because I know you regret kissing me. It was wrong of us to have done something as abominable as that. Especially, considering the fact that you are my mom’s boss and th-” he tilted my chin up and connected my lips with his again.

This time, I wasn’t all that unprepared even though I’d been rambling faster than the first time. I gasped in surprise but kissed him back with a sudden passion that actually surprised I myself. I felt hot and jittery, as if something was beckoning to me to devour him. Was this how those people usually felt in those madre’s cliché paperback novels she loved reading? Hot, frisky and not just lips blandly moving on each other.

But damn, this man was a fine kisser and he knew how to woo through fast, dominating but also attentive and sweet kisses.

His index finger traced random patterns on my side where his hand was resting and the place burned with unquenchable desire. It was unlike me to allow men kiss me this way, considering the fact that he’d be the second man to ever claim my lips yet my body didn’t fail in surprising me by responding heatedly to his advances.

He pulled back again and this time, I held onto his shoulders; which were quite high for me, because my legs were trembling and threatening to give out.

“Listen to me Kara. I don’t regret what happened between us and I wanted it. Hell I’ve wanted to kiss you all evening, you look so beautiful in this dress Kara but that’s not the only reason I wanted to kiss you. No. You’re smart, and can hold a great conversation too.” He spoke fast, probably taking a guess that I would cut him off again. I couldn’t control myself from going rigid in his hold.

My heartbeat increased rapidly, making me feel slightly breathless but he didn’t release me even when I stiffened. My face threatened to slip into a smile but I struggled not to. He’d wanted to kiss me all evening?  He held me close to him still, his eyes not leaving my face and I looked up at him.

“You really don’t regret the kiss?” I mumbled confusedly with furrowed brows.

I looked around and noticed couples were also dancing and some of them were just nestling into each other’s warm embrace. But there was a difference between myself and this man. We weren’t couples.

We were boss and house help and that was just a huge gap between us.

“I thought you said students were allowed here?” I asked with a squint.

“Well, just a few students with very high potential who won approvals after sending out business proposal samples. But mostly couples in the business world and those that are looking to invest...” He was still staring down at my lips. I hadn’t sent out any proposal to get approval and an invite. Had he decided to bring me along even after knowing this? I sucked a deep breath in at the thought.

I pinched myself hard on the cheek and flinched as I felt the coldness before the surface of the sting. Wow, this wasn’t a dream.

“Also.... I don’t regret kissing you Kara. I loved kissing you, cazzo, I enjoyed it.” He assured again. His tone was gentle, his eyes soft.

I didn’t know what to feel anymore. The question was, why?

He was supposed to be glaring at me and not looking so cool like a cucumber. Something was wrong. What if this was his entire plan and he would later go back to that way, then I would just be made to look like a fool?

“I- I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have, this is just, weird.” I could feel the tears gathering as I let my thoughts go wild and I didn’t know what to conclude.

“Don’t be sorry and you should have, it was sweet.” He looked somehow strange while speaking softly, just as if I was a baby and he didn’t want to scare me. His hand slowly came up to the left side of my face and he patted me there. “Shh, don’t get frantic about this.” He said with a frown, as if guessing my thoughts.

Someone cleared their throat beside us just as I was about to speak again and I immediately came back to the real world.

“May I have this dance?”

I looked to my right and saw the man from earlier who said his name was Sucre and that he was young master’s friend.

“Uh-”

“No. We are having an important discussion right now, Sucre.” Young master spoke in his usual dominating voice, his expression now back to being blank.

“I think the young vixen has a mouth to speak for herself.” Sucre chuckled.

“Leave.”

“Oh, and if I don’t leave, would you be kind enough to try and make me?” Sucre asked. Young master mainly glared at him, his lips pursed into a grim line.

“We both know how we’ve played it since college days don’t we? Why don’t you let me have just one dance with this Lady?”

I didn’t see anything wrong in having a few minutes dance with him and it really seemed young master was being unreasonable here but it wasn’t like I would tell him that.

“It’s fine.” I muttered. After all, I had a right of my own. I tried to release myself from young masters hold but he just held me tight in his arms.

“What about Thomas industries? Don’t you care about it anymore?” Young master muttered, his gaze not leaving mine.

The man’s face suddenly hardened. “Come again?”

“The media would surely be interested in how and why you’re suddenly interested in acquiring all rights to that industry and how much you’ve invested into it in such a small amount of time and maybe I wouldn’t hesitate in giving the info out. What do you think?” Young master added.

For a moment, I got lost in his gaze and blinked, looking from his captivating eyes to his straight nose and his strong jaws. He was breathtaking. He oozed of male confidence so well that it always amazed and left me in the land of wonderment.

I turned my face to Sucre, who clenched his jaws and fluttered his eyes shut. When he opened them again, they were calm and he sported on a smile.

“Unfortunately, I have to leave now for something important, Miss Kara. Take care and be careful because this man holding onto you is one crazy and bipolar fellow. We shall see again soon.” He did a mock salute and left, turning around to throw me a wink before getting lost in the sea of dancers.

“You can release me now.” Young master did but he was cunningly glaring at me.

“Fine Kara but when we get home, we need to discuss something important.”

This night? Hell no! I huffed.
“Okay.” I muttered.

I couldn’t meet his eyes. I just wanted to go home because he was acting so weird already and that didn’t sit well with me. The whole scenario that’d taken place this night was strange altogether.

My lips were still tingling since we shared the passionate lip caress.

He led me back to our seats and throughout the commencement of the event; my mind was on the kiss we’d shared as we had small talks. I was more than relieved when he finally announced that it was time to go home.
