"This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. – Exodus 12:2
There was a time in Egypt, when the Israelites were being oppressed and being treated as slaves. They went through the worst of experiences, had the worst kind of pain both physically and emotionally. God knows what could have been going through their minds during that period of hardship. I dare to say, they suffered!
Life can get so hard sometimes when we don't get what we want. It's easy to fall prey to the attacks of the enemy. It's during such times when the enemy strikes the hardest. You have to understand that our greatest nemesis; the devil, doesn't give any chances. He's caused a whole lot of us great misfortunes and sitting around letting Him win doesn't do us any good. Whatever he may have done, has to remain behind you. Don't stay fixated on the past, move on and start again. Paul says it well in Philippians.
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, - Philippians 3:13
Dwelling in the past, does more harm than good. Maybe you never served God well in the past, maybe you had the worst childhood, I don't know what happened to you. What I do know is that we can all start afresh and enjoy the rest of our lives. God is willing to make you start over. None of us can change the past, but making the right decisions everyday would do you good. Focus on what you have now and don't give the enemy the satisfaction of re-living the most painful experiences from your past.
Start now in living well. It may take a while to live completely free from whatever causes oppression in our lives, doing nothing but complain about our misfortune keeps us in bondage and living like that will never be satisfying.
Prayer
Father, Help me to start again. I may have failed you in the past but now I am willing to be completely submissive to you. Fill my heart with your presence, help me to let go, Help me start afresh. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, amen.
