Sorrowful Flowers

I chased after him through the forest.
He was showing me a new place he found the other day.
I just wanted to sit beneath the tree and take a nap.
But honestly I'll follow him anywhere.
"Come on, your too slow!" He urged, now tugging me the the hand.
I shook my head and sigh affectionately and let him lead me deeper into the woods.

The forest before, all around were a rusted brown and healthy green with birds chirping every now and then.
The sky above was the best weather we had in a while being cooped up in our home for so long.

The air was fresh and the birds filled the silence with background chirps, other than that there were quite rustles of a bush or tree every now and then.
"We're almost there, just beyond those trees!"

He was further insistent on dragging me to his newest exploration.
Of course being in our home for quite a while we did nothing but read, and draw, occasionally playing games but there weren't many I could think of.

Mom was there to come up with a game though on who could eat the most pie in an hour or the quiet game.
Though now that I think about it I have a sneaking suspension that she just wanted us quiet.

Squinting my eyes in thought it also reminded me how today dad allowed us to go outside and play.
He's always fun and cool but mom complains he too lenient.

"We here!" He shouts in excitement.
Dropping my hand, letting it swing to my side.
He ran ahead to a whole broken wood of flowers.

It was so beautiful...

I always love seeing a new flower so I could give it to mom

I always love seeing a new flower so I could give it to mom.
Walking in the middle of the small field I sat on my knees, gently brushing some forget-me-nots.

Or I would pluck some flowers to make flower crowns for him and I.
Taking a lily I began weaving him together humming a tune, he was in the other side of the field plucking more flowers to show me.

The song was one that mother told me once, among the groups of others.
It was a old song, she told me many people who sung this tune altered the words, but it's the way you sing it, is what counts.

Hearing muffled footsteps of brown boots near by, continuing my tune.
Soft arms came behind me covering my vision.

"Guess who it it?" I can hear his smile.

Smiling too, I replied, trying to turn my head, making my long hair fall to my shoulder.

"Hmmm...." With mock ignorance.

"Is it mom?" Pointing my fingertip to my chin.

"Nope! You have to get a again..." He said with a small laugh, waiting to hear.

"Is it... dad?" Tilting my head further.

"No! You can't peek!" He sidestepped behind me still covering my vision.

Safe from my prying eyes, and with a huff.

"Nope! Guess again!" He anticipated for my answer.

"Wait a second.... I know now...."

I can practically feel his egging on.

"It's Ebony right!" Giving a mischievous smirk now.

"No~! You didn't say it!" He complained.

Uncovering my eyes he fell on top of me laying down on my legs.

"Oh. It's you Rei." I placed a crown of flowers I just finished, on his head.

With his eyes blocked by the pretty petals.

"Your so mean Ari~ you don't even say my name."

I smiled, finishing my own flower crown.

"What if it was because.... I don't have to say it if I can believe it's you."

Taking my own I tucked it own my head just near my ear's top.

"Okay I guess, but you must make me believe it's true, forever, don't ever forget it."

I fixed my seating with him on my legs supporting my arms to lie on my back on the soft bed.

"It's a promise."

"Cross my heart and hope to die?"

"It's a sin if I lie."

Giving each a kind smile, full of trust, and a hold that can not break.
Slowly both settled into their placement and just stayed together.

The birds were quite now, but there was no need for silence, it was comfortable, without him or I needing to talk.

But for some strange reason you can help the feeling of being watched, but it's probably nothing.
Rei says I need to be more carefree anyway...
So I rested again on the sweet fragrance of the few hydrangeas.

We lied in this safe haven for the rest of the day.

Simply watching the clouds and sun move across the sky.

Somewhere something in the far tree hiding in the darkest shade.

"They're perfect... It'll be so much fun with all the despair and hopelessness I can create~."

The evil creature smiled with a sick grin and sunk back to it's bushes.

It's gone.

Everything faded.

Consumed by the the darkness.

The Hopelessness.

Despair.

Where are you?

Why can't I remember?!
