"So what are you girls up to today?" Tyler asked while putting his hands in his pockets.
I glanced at Lexi then back at him. "Well we're trying to find some place with air conditioning..." I said truthfully.
"That's for sure. It's too damn hot out." Lexi said while nodding her head.
"Well my little brother is turning nine today so we're having a pool party for him," He said glancing back at his house. "You both can come hang at my place..."
His eyes were directly on me. I cowardly kept looking away.
"As long as there is air conditioning I am so there." Lexi said laughing. "Swimming sounds like fun, doesn't it Ally?" Lexi said.
I could tell she really wanted to go. We didn't really have anything better to do. But I couldn't help but think of how this was just another opportunity to make an ass out of myself again.
"Um..." I looked to my car.
"I know you probably don't want to hang out with a bunch of eight and nine year old kids. But I promise, it's not as bad as it sounds. Plus I have a few of my friends there too." he said with a small smile.
"You better have good looking friends." Lexi said as Tyler laughed. "I think it sounds like fun. Come on Ally let's just go." she said
I shrugged. I guess we could go for a little while. "Alright, we'll come." I said pulling my keys from the car door.
"Cool, you'll have fun. Trust me." Tyler smiled and led us to his home.
As we made our way through his house he introduced us to a few people. Little kids ran around chasing each other. We came to his backyard where a huge pool was and in the grass there was a big bouncy house with lots of kids jumping around in it. An older guy who Tyler pointed out as his step father stood in front of a grill making hamburgers and hotdogs. He briefly introduced us to his mother who sat at a table with a few other ladies as they sipped lemonade. She welcomed us with a sweet smile.
"Big party..." I said looking around. We stood right next to the pool. Little kids splashed each other back and forth.
"Yeah I know, my parents love to invite everyone they know," he laughed. "Do you both want anything to drink?" he asked.
"I want what she's drinking." Lexi said while pointing to a little girl in pink who had none other but a can of sprite.
He nodded. "And you Ally?"
"I'm good." I said softly. A kid then rushed passed me hitting my side as he did so. I started to lose my balance and began falling forward.
Tyler then quickly grabbed me by my waist and pulled be back. "Whoa there... almost fell in the pool." He looked at the little boy that ran by. "Sorry, that was my brother Mark. He never watches where he's going."
I shook my head and sighed with relief. Thank goodness I didn't fall in. "It's fine, I have the same problem of not looking where I'm going."
He smiled. "Do you have a history of falling or something?" As I looked at him, his eyes seemed even brighter than the week before.
"Apparently I do." I said laughing. I have been falling a lot recently. "Let's hope I don't make it a habit forever."
Lexi eyed the both of us. My cheeks turned red. I always hated how I blushed easily. Tyler then moved away and went to get Lexi her sprite.
Lexi nudged me. "So how long have you known him huh?" she said.
"A week or so..." I said shaking my head. I knew where she was going with this.
