The door Michael and Alex disappeared into slammed shut, I released anxious sigh, and pushed the small strands of dark hair that began to fall in front of my face. I pressed my back against the wall feeling the heat of the sun on my face. I rubbed my temples soothing my aching head, I pondered on what could be happening at the moment I was eager to know how Alex would react to his fathers surprising return. I flinched as the door swung open.

"Alex."

"Did you know?" Blue eyes flared with anger.

I snapped my mouth shut, he looked over me shocked, again his face contorted back into anger. Turning on his heel he began to walk away. "You knew, and you didn't tell me?" My heart pounded in my chest.

I looked to meet his eye, "Yes, but I couldn't tell you." he scoffed in return.

"I've told you things that i've never told anyone else before, I thought you'd do the same."

"It wasn't my place to tell." It wasn't anything above a mere whisper but I knew he heard me. I looked down and played with the hem of my coat. When I glanced back over at the door he was gone.

-

Later that night, I sat on my bed playing with a small silvery feather. He was across the room but I could still feel his gaze, putting the feather under my pillow.I strapped boots onto my feet and made my way out of the room to my locker. A wave of vanilla and cinnamon sent hit my nose, sighing I grabbed my vest and slipped it on my body. Lastly I began strapping my weapons, I glanced at the pictures that hung on my door. Alot of them were of Alex and I, one of Bix and I, I even had a picture of Michael. I smiled at the one of Alex and I, it was the first day that we'd began working with each other.

I groaned as oversized pants kept slowly falling down my waist, It was the first day and I was scrambling around late. This was the last thing I needed, I could already feel myself regretting ever agreeing to join the army. I felt nervousness in the pit of my stomach, finally I made it through the house and reported for duty. Across from me was a tall blonde with blue eyes much like mine. He only stood a few feet taller than me. I gave him a bright smile "I'm Ryder," He nodded his pink lips tugging into an amused smile, I cocked my head to the side.

"Uh," he stifled a laugh, "Your pants, look like they wouldn't even fit me honestly." I glared playfully pulling them up around my belly button.

"I'm sure I could smuggle you out of Vega in these pants." I remarked sarcastically.

"Think you, could kidnap me?" He taunted doubtfully.

"In these pants, yes." We both laughed in return.

"I'm Alex." His hand extended towards me.

"No, no, no," I pulled my hand into a fist, Alex caught on quickly and did the same. I bumped my fist against his. "Now blow it up." I wiggled my fingers and so did he. I giggled, as we finished up a conversation, the princess of Vega made her appearance and we parted away from each other.

"That was a good day," Alex's voice made me jump slightly but I didn't turn to look at him.

"Yeah and so was the day I got pants that fit." I smiled, but it faded within seconds. I closed my locker door, turning around my eyes met his.

I sighed and ran fingers though my tangled hair, "I'm sorry." I played with the hem of my vest. Feeling the coolness of the lockers as I Ieaned into them. I was shocked when I was surprisingly pulled into a hug, it took me a moment to register but I pulled my arms around him.

"You know I can't stay mad at you for long, you're like my little sister." He scuffed my hair up. Parting from another, I put my hand up for a fist bump. Alex laughed at me and we bumped fists.

"Now, we have a Jubilee to attend." I rolled my eyes at him grabbing my gun.

-

I stood against the wall on the house Riesen Balcony, Alex stood guard in front of me and to the left of him was Michael. I took a quick glance at him and buried any feelings I felt rising. When David began talking, I didn't really pay attention to what he was saying.
But my eyes grew the size of saucers when I did began listening.

"...my honor to announce the engagement of Claire Riesen, to William Whele." I saw how Alex's back tensed, I saw Claire, and then I saw General Riesen and figured it out.

"Assholes." I growled to myself, I felt Michael's stare but I chose not to meet it. I could see the tears promptly in Claire's eye's which only fueled my anger. I hissed when a sharp ringing began in my ear. I knew Michael felt it too. I saw as he stepped closely to the balcony, I could see the box and what was in a box.

"You've gotta be kidding me." I gripped my gun, the eight-ball stood center stage, in the light chained up like a dog, and it waved to the crowd. I cocked my head to the side, something was wrong but I couldn't put my finger on it.

"Gabriel." It took one word, one name to make me cower in fear. I wanted to find a corner and hide in it. I closed my eyes feeling my heart beat abnormally fast. When I finally peeled open my eyes I saw Chaos, I could no longer see Michael. Everyone began filing off the balcony cries of terror were heard everywhere, I made a mad dash to find Alex who seemed to have disappeared also. I shoved through many, looking around the crowd of panic. In a split second I found Claire who was being dragged away, swiftly I grabbed her arm and pulled her through the crowd uniting her with Alex who had Bix's in his arms. I began to run in the direction of the nearest exit.

"Where are you going?" I felt Alex tug me back.

"Don't worry about me, just go." I slipped out of his grip and made my way to the Stratosphere hotel, I ran as fast as my legs could take me and I didn't stop until I made it to the top. Out of breath I was tempted to take a nap. But instead I grabbed my Crystal sword and made my way back down onto the ground.

I ran straight for the reactor, seconds after I arrived my world was filled with fire, I closed my eyes feeling debris thrown my way, a rock slit the side of my face. I hissed falling on my ass, I opened my eyes to flame and rubble. My ears rang the heat was rough on my skin, dazed I got up and ran into the wreckage.

"Michael." I sighed in relief when I saw him, I threw my arms around him awkwardly. "I love what you've done with the place." I said looking around. I noticed a red armored angel also pop out from the ruble. Without saying a word he smirked and took off into the air.

"Are you okay?" I pulled away giving him a check over. He seemed fine, although he really needed a bath.

"I'm fine." His hand wiped away blood that began to drain from my cheek. I felt a cut from my ear across my cheek stopping just before the start of my eye.

"Maybe it's time to tell the Console?" I re-shafted my sword, and began walking with him. It was time for everyone to know who I really am and it was time for Alex to know who he really was.

-

We walked through tunnels until we made it to the control room, we entered grabbing everyone's attention. My stomach churned when I saw Jeep in a pool of his own blood, and I noticed the Senator the way she looked at Michael, I averted my attention away and looked at Alex his body now full of markings. I could see the confusion in his eyes, I kneeled before him, as did Michael.

"Alex is the baby I saved all those years ago," The room of eager ears listened carefully. "He is under our protection." He said glancing back at me.

Everyone in the room was quiet, but not for long as David broke the silence.

"And who are you?" David stepped in front of me.

"My name is Ryder."

"And what's your designation, Ryder?" He looked towards my sword.

I was unsure of what to say really, so I settled "V2."

"What is a V2 soldier doing with a weapon like that?" He pointed at the sword that was attached to my back he began circling me like a hawk, looking at it's prey looking for the slightest sign of weakness. I stood as he made his back to my front.

"Enjoy the view?" I smirked, this seemed to only irritate him. Which was what I had been going for.

"Who are you really, Ryder?" David questioned hovering over me, he was a very cunning man, i'm sure most would crack under his pressure, but I, was not afraid of him.

"She is my most trusted ally," Michael said.

"What does that mean?" General Riesen pitched in.

"It mean's Michael's not the only angel on humanities side." I threw out. Gasps sounded throughout the room.
A heap of chuckles came from David and he shook his head at me.
I brushed his suit off. "Don't hurt yourself." He glared and stepped back.

"First Alex is our supposed saviour, the one who will save us all. And now we have another angel who's mysteriously on our side?" He spat mockingly, "This is all just a big joke."

Two shimmering wings emerged out of my back, a wave of air hit David blowing his hair back. I pressed my sword to his throat, I felt guns raise ready to pelt me. I flicked my wings and they shimmered in the light. My wings were dark grey, decaled with silver.

"I wouldn't push your luck, David, play with fire, you're bound to get burned."

Clearing his throat David pushed my sword away from himself, "I think you've made your point."

I re-shafted my weapon while the wings disappeared into my back and stepped back towards Michael. He glared as if he was planning a great come back against me, and I was sure he would retaliate for my actions.

-

"Alex." I said as Michael left the room.

"I don't want to talk to you," He growled putting on a shirt covering up the tattoos he earned just over and hour ago.

"Now, now, don't be so sour." I retorted back, he rolled his eyes and made his way towards the door. A hard smack landed on the back of his head. He whipped back placing a hand on the tender skin, I glared at him, "What the hell?" He returned the look.

My lip curled into a snarl. "Don't you turn your back to me."

"You lied to me."

I sneered at him. "I never lied to you." I placed my bum on the bed and folded my legs into a pretzel.

"You're an angel, and for the past six years I thought you were a human." He accused.

"Well you never did ask me if I was an angel," I could see the burden that was now placed upon him. "Come, sit." I patted the bed beside me.

"You know, it's true, everything that has happened is so you could train."

"I don't want this." He folded his sleeve up to show the markings. They were beautiful, at least that's how I viewed them.

"I may not be human, but i'm not Michael, truthfully him and I are quite different. I am still Ryder I was never anyone but Ryder. And I know you thought I was human, but nothing is different about me everything you know about me is true, you know who I really am Alex." I explained, I gave him a quick smile
"I know things are difficult, and that your whole life seems like some big lie. But this is who you are, this is what has been chosen for you. I won't tell you who to be or what to do, but I am your protector, and if it comes to it I will protect you with my life. Not just because you're the chosen one, you're like my family," I grabbed his hand in mine and squeezed. His arm wrapped around my shoulder, and pulled me tightly against him.

"So what did the tattoo say?"

"I couldn't read any of them."

"You can fool Michael but not me," He examined the marking before hiding back underneath the shirt. I nodded knowing he wasn't going to tell me. "I know you won't be there, but I think you should still come."

"I don't think that'll happen." He stood up.

"Alex it's your father-"

"I'm not having this conversation with you."  I didn't say anything in return, "I'll see you later,"

"Alex," I stopped him before leaving. "Don't do anything stupid, you know i'll kick your ass," He smiled slightly and disappeared through the door.
