"True." She began to list all the places they have had sex. "And yours are in your dressing room, on the couch, in the bathtub, in the kitchen, on the wall, in the car, on the floor, on the table."
"Actually it’s in the bed." Ian started laughing.
"Oh." She laughed. "What do I most like to do with time off?"
"Yoga." He laid down and kissed her lips again.
"Yup." She kissed his lips once again after that and spoke. "Sex."
Ian corrected her. “Spending time with you, cooking and sleeping. Which side of the bed do I prefer?”
"The one that I sleep on the previous night."
"Oh yeah. Because it smells like you." He smiled at her. "And you… You prefer. Right?"
"In the middle, between the two pillows. And what’s the food that you hate? Uhm…"
"Peaches in heavy syrup. Yours is sea urchin."
"Ew!" Nina began to laugh loudly. "What the hell is this?"
Ian laughed as well. “It’s disgusting. You don’t want to taste it.”
"You know me better than I know you." She pulled him into a sweet, deep and tender kiss.
2 cups buttermilk (or 2 tablespoons vinegar + enough whole milk to equal 2 cups)
2 small or 1 large ripe banana, or about 1 cup mashed, plus extra for slicing on top of the pancakes
2 eggs
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
teaspoon baking soda
teaspoon salt
Thick, airy, fluffy pancakes are good for the soul just as much as hard.
"I want what you have promised me." Nina sat on the kitchen countertop and crossed her legs.
“Banana pancakes?" Ian asked simply.
"Yes. You were scared of me, when we first moved in together."
"Really? I don’t remember." Ian took some cooked dough and started preparing it for the pancakes Nina wanted.
"I said yes earlier, for the sex and you didn’t act. I felt rejected." Nina laughed softly.
"Oh come here." He grabbed her neck and brought his mouth to hers.
She kissed him gently and then pulled away. “But it’s too late.”
"Okay." He placed a kiss on her nose and continued doing what he was doing earlier. "Candice is engaged. Copycat."
Nina laughed again. “When we moved in together you thought I was going to poison you.”
Ian peeled a banana and chopped it into slices. “Oh wow.”
Nina took a piece and ate it. “Yes.”
"But you wouldn’t do that, right?" Ian fried three pancakes and flipped each of them.
"Now? Never."
He smiled and kissed her lips, then he took a plate and when the pancakes were fried on both sides, he took them out of the pan and put them directly into the plate.
"But I have thought about that in the past." Nina giggled. "I was scared of you too."
"You thought I was going to poison you?" He added the banana, some butter and some syrup on the pancakes.
"No, not just of that."
"Of what then?"
"I’m not gonna tell you." She laughed softly and pulled the plate with the pancakes to her.
"No, I know. And I’m really sorry about that." Ian held her hand and caressed it. He looked down in her brown doe eyes. He was telling the truth. His eyes were filled with regret.
He had hit her in the past. She has made some mistakes too. All of that was difficult to be understood. It was tough.
"I really wasn’t talking about that." She smiled lightly.
"About what then?"
"No, nothing. Really."
He swallowed. “I’m sorry. I really am.”
"I forgot about it already."
"I can’t stand the idea of you hating me forever."
"Hey, I don’t hate you." She took his hand in hers and looked at his eyes.
"I would never do that again. You know it, right?"
"Yeah." She smiled.
He smiled lightly as well and pulled her into his strong arms, cuddling her.
She wrapped her hands around him. “I’m sorry too.”
Ian placed a kiss on her cheek and pulled away from the hug. “Now try them.” He pointed the pancakes and smiled.
"You feed me." She giggled. "I’m such a baby."
"Open your mouth." He cut a piece with the fork and closed it to her mouth.
She ate it and licked her lips. “Mmm. Delicious.”
Nina and Ian enjoyed the afternoon, eating those fluffy banana pancakes. Then they took a Sunday rest on the bed with their furry kids - their kittens Moke and Jama-Lynx.
I don’t need to know more, not about who you were. Cause as much as you don’t think so, I know who you are. A girl I’d like to share a cheeseburger with. :)
