Yippee.
The most stressful part of making a story has come.
Punctuation is a very serious part of writing a story.
In order to draw people in and get votes and good commentary, you must first know when to put periods, question marks, exclamation points, parentheses, and hyphens.
Which punctuation that goes into quotation marks is also very important.
If I were to put,
'"You know what I mean" she said.'
I would put a comma after 'mean' because there is more to the sentence after the quotation marks.
'"You know what I mean," she said.'
If I were to put
' She simply replied with "do I?"'
I would put a period outside the quotation marks because 'do I?' is part of what she said, but since there's already punctuation inside of the quotation marks, you don't add more punctuation inside the end of the quotation marks.
' She simply replied with "Do I?".
Then, there's when she states something.
' Layla scrunched her nose in disgust. "I'm pretty sure you do"'
I would put a period inside of the quotation marks because there is nothing more to the sentence after the quotation marks.
'Layla scrunched her nose in disgust. "I'm pretty sure you do."'
I hope that covers up everything.
