Breathe

Shadows

She looks out beyond the cliff

And sees the crystal clear ocean rushing beneath her.

The waves flow back and forth,

Both peaceful and untamed at the same time.

As she stands there,

She looks back upon the memories that are now apart of her.

The ones that remind her of all the pain and hurt.

They flash through her as if she's watching her life on a screen,

Laughter and smiles

Until it all faded to black.

She was one of the lucky ones

And her heart was full of love,

Only to be broken into pieces.

And now she knows where not to go

Because when your heart is shattered,

Which piece do you follow?

The hurt started slowly from the beginning only to grow

And became a fire

Burning her from the inside out

Taking all her feelings and wrecking all of her soul.

Her becoming lifeless,

Everyone was oblivious to.

But if you're in love

Than keep and hold them tight

Because most are bitter over someone and set their souls ablaze at the grief.

If you're one of the lucky ones,

Don't let the shadows kill you.

Don't get too close to the edge because once you're there,

The shadows overtake you like they did her.
