Useless ~ Shiro

I didn't feel so bad at first so I shrugged off the old stories of falling in love meaning pain and death. Matt didn't came to see me the next day but Shiro had." Hey I came to see if you wanted to come practice a little with me today. It would be good for you to get some more work in anyway if you to join more missions." I sat up from my place on my bed with a joyful expression " really!?" He chuckled as I looked over to him " yes really." " But not right now though tomorrow ok I have somethings to finish up today. I promise we can chat later though " he ruffled my hair before going on his own way. Finally this is my chance to prove my worth I've been working on my own and with Keith. I want to prove to him I can do this even without powers! Ever since that day I asked if I was useless I wanted to make myself as useful as he believes. So I worked harder at my hand to hand combat he's going to be so surprised when I kick his but! At dinner Shiro looked beyond stressed. Normally he didn't talk about it in fronting then others. He never wants to worry them so he tries to be the rock and it doesn't work for him to well. Once dinner was done I took Shiro by the hand and walked with him to his room. Neither of us said anything till we reached his room. As soon as the door shut behind us we sat on his bed. " Shiro what's wrong you seemed stressed at dinner. You can always talk to me. With me you don't have to be strong." Gently I pressed my hand on his cheek getting him to look at me. " Just the stress of everything as a leader" he mumbled trying to look away again. I pulled him into a tight hug " you can let it out you know. Keeping it in only makes things worse on you." He wrapped his arms around me barring his face in my neck his breath tickles and when he spoke it tickled even more. " I'm useless I'm always making mistakes and putting others at risk" he was starting to shake as he tried hard to hold back tears. I rubbed his back trying to calm him well he cried " there you go just let it out. Your far from useless and you have a lot of stress so mistakes are made your only human after all. It's better to talk to me before you get this bad I told you Shiro I'm here for you. No matter what i'll always be here for you." He cried for a little bit and I kept rubbing his back I started humming a song to him hoping it would help. " Do you think I'm useless" I asked he pulled away looking me in the eyes " no never your a lot more help than you could ever think! Your always there for us always comforting me and the others." He fell back on me his face back in my neck. " Don't ever think like that" he mumbled into my skin my face heated up at his words. " I feel the same about you Shiro your always the rock for those kids without you they would be a mess." Both if us said nothing for a long time so I went back to humming and rubbing his back. I was getting tired and so was Shiro I could tell as he was to he was leaning more heavily on me. " Shiro it's late you should get some rest if your to help me practice tomorrow" he didn't say anything his arms still wrapped around me and his breathing steady. Oh dear did he fall asleep! " Shiro? Shirooo? Come on buddy" he didn't move carefully I tried to pry him off me but it was no use.  I patted his back trying to gently wake him up " Shiro come on". Finally he let me go and I leaned him back into his bed. It was hard but was able to tuck him in he was a lot heavyer than I thought. Once he was tucked in I looked at his sleeping face. I guess he really is handsome especially when stress hasn't hardened his face. Shiro was in a peaceful sleep normally he had nightmares and would thrash and scream time to time. I would come running with Keith not to far behind. Together we could calm him most days. Sometimes i had to do it alone and I found it was easier with just me. Yet right now he looked at peace as if nightmares had never touched him once. " Sleep Well Shiro" I mumbled giving his hand a small squeeze. He smiled in his sleep mumbling things I couldn't quite hear. I giggled at how silly he looked mumbling like a drunk man. Slowly I left his room before I made it out the door I had the urge to kiss his forehead. So for some dumb reason i did then run out the room. Why did I do that! He could have woke up! He smiled softly touching his forhead he wasn't asleep.
