I Shall Not

I shall not

Turn my eyes to heaven

In the vain hope

That there are answers there,

For what there is

Is black and frozen air.

I shall not

Seek hope and sustenance

From those who dress

In holy robes,

Who sell their messages,

Buy one, get one free.

I shall not

Buy the lies of politicians

Easy to swallow,

But lethal to the

Gut,

Eventually.

I shall not

Bend my knee

To royalty

Who dress their theft

In gowns

Of public service.

I shall not

Now that the winter

Of my life is upon me,

Go quietly to keep the peace.

Instead I'll rail until I fall

And call upon you all, to listen.
