"Don't be sorry." Lucy responded. "Let's just get you checked out."

Nodding her head weakly, Braelynn lays her head against the door.

Lucy started the engine and backed out of the driveway.

Braelynn's eyes fluttered closed.

"Stay awake." Lucy said.

Forcing her eyes open, the teenager takes a deep breath before wincing in pain.

"We are almost there." Lucy said, taking her daughter's hand.

Nodding her head, the younger girl swallows thickly.

It wasn't long before Lucy stopped in the hospital car park and helped Braelynn out of the car and into the hospital.

"Mommy," the younger girl breathes out.

"I know." Lucy said softly.

It wasn't long before Braelynn was being taken back to surgery to find the problem.

Lucy sat down in the waiting room, tapping her foot nervously.

"Hey, how is she?" Lauren asks, making her way over to Lucy.

"She's in surgery." Lucy said, running her fingers through her hair.

Grabbing, Lucy's hand, Lauren kisses her cheek. "I'm sorry."

Lucy shook her head. "She'll be okay."

"I know, but I don't understand what happened." Lauren says softly. "She's been fine for fourteen years."

"The doctor said that her body might reject the heart, I just didn't think it would because it was so long ago." Lucy said.

Nodding her head in agreement, Lauren frowns. "It's weird."

Lucy nodded, leaning against Lauren. "You left the kids alone with Camila?" She asked.

"They're all old enough to take care of themselves now. Plus Remi is there." Lauren responds.

"But still..." Lucy sighed. "I don't want them to get hurt because she's drunk and can't control herself."

"They'll be fine." Lauren responds, rubbing Lucy's back.

Lucy closed her eyes. "Thanks."

Kissing Lucy's forehead, Lauren smiles softly.

Lucy closed her eyes. She drifted off to sleep.

Holding her close, Lauren lays her head against Lucy's.

Eventually a doctor came out and called for Braelynn's parents.

Lucy stands up and makes her way toward him. "How is she?"

"I'm sorry Mrs. Cabello, we lost her." The doctor said sadly.

Shaking her head, Lucy steps backward. "N-no."

"I'm really sorry." The doctor said softly.

"You're wrong." Lucy responds, not believing the doctor.

"I'm sorry." The doctor repeated. "I tried everything but she's gone."

Tears full Lucy's eyes and she backs into Lauren.

Lauren wrapped her arms around Lucy and held her close.

"I'm really sorry." The doctor said again before leaving them alone.

Burying her face in Lauren's neck, Lucy breaks into sobs.

"Shh." Lauren cooed, rocking them. "I'm so sorry."
