The sound of children singing filled the air, "Ring a ring a rosie,"
I beamed and beat my hands on my knees with the beat. "A pocket full of posey!"
Henry and Arnie belted out the rest of the lyrics. I chuckled to myself. Being the oldest was great. Henry and Arnie are my younger brothers. Henry is 13, and Arnie is 3. I'm 15.
My Dad had been offered a job far away from Hadenville, so we had to move to Holytown. I personally don't mind. All the people at my old school were snobby dicks.
Henry was hit a little harder. He had good friends at Hadenville Intermediate.
Mum says it was for the best, as Dad's new job was well paid. His old one... Well, we didn't have enough money.
My Dad and my Mum are a dream couple. They love each other with all their heart. Dad seems to love Mum even more after her paralysation.
My Mum was in a car accident just after she had Arnie. Her legs were crushed under the dashboard.
Idiot drivers, going too fast.
Anyways, tomorrow I start at Newmad College. Should be fun. Hopefully, I'll make some friends. You see, I've never really had friends before. I'm not that pretty.
I have golden-brown wavy hair up to my elbows, which is usually tied back into a ponytail. I have a large mole on my left jawbone, and I have green eyes. And I'm not the skinniest girl either.
Must be genes.
But aside from that, I love my family. Except for Henry. Oooooh, Henry is a BITCH. Well, sometimes I love him. But most of the time. Nope!

"Dad, stop it!" I snapped. I was sitting in the car with my over-emotional Dad as he drove me to school.
His eyes were red and he was sniffling, "Sorry, it's just, my baby girl is going to College, and-"
"DAD! I'VE GONE TO COLLEGE BEFORE! JUST GIVE THE CRYING A BREAK!" I yelled.
He chuckled, "There's my feisty little tiger." He wiped his eyes and shook his head, smiling to himself.
"You can drop me off here," I told him suddenly. He pulled over and kissed me on the cheek. I smiled and gave him a hug. "Bye, Dad."
I scrambled out the car and waved goodbye. I turned around and walked up the path. Some girls passed me, shooting glances over their shoulders.
I heard them whispering.
"Who is that?"
"Never seen her before."
"She's kinda ugly."
I drooped my head slightly. They were right. I was kinda ugly. But, no matter! I was gonna make a good first impression!

I cautiously walked down the driveway into Newmad. Wow... It was huge! The building in front of me rose up several stories. I wasn't aware of three girls watching me.
"Hey!"
I whirled around to see three pretty girls standing there.
"Hi!" One of them stepped forward. "I'm Nia Scotte. This is Charlie Hanis and Ruth Jean."
The other two girls waved.
Nia was very pretty, long, straight dark brown hair, hazel eyes, glasses. And, oh boy! Did she rock that uniform well!
Ruth had sort of a shy look to her. Her chestnut blond hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail, with a few strands of hair falling over her right eye. She had very cute grey-blue eyes, and she smiled meekly at me.
Charlie was grinning. "Hi, there!" She had wavy hair - about the same colour as Nia's - which fell down to her shoulders. She had stunning light blue eyes.
"I'm Ellie. Ellie Baddingtone." I smiled at the girls. "I'm new around here. Just moved up from Hadenville."
"Hadenville?" Ruth asked. "Where's Hadenville?"
"Oh, uh, a few days down south," I replied.
"Hm. You know what homeroom you're in?" Nia inquired. "What teacher?"
"Umm, Mrs Shklar?"
"Hey, you're with me!" Ruth exclaimed.
"Oh, nice!" I grinned. "You think you could show me around?"
"Oh, no problem!" Charlie beamed.
You know, I think I like these girls.

"Oh! Do you have a locker?" Nia burst out as we entered the hall.
"Um, apparently yes." I nodded. "Number 478?"
"Okay, we'll find that for you," Ruth mumbled, "Mine is 436, so we can work from there."
We walked along the hall searching for Number 478.
"477!" Charlie called from across the hall.
I stopped. That must mean that this one right here was mine, I scanned the label. "'478, Ellie Baddingtone'!" I announced. "'Please enter new locker combination'. Okay then."
I pressed the buttons and pulled my locker open. There was so much space! I dumped all my books in and closed the door.
"Oh look, it's Cole!" Someone exclaimed from across the hall. I turned around to see a blond boy walking down the corridor.
My heart stopped.
"Whaddup, James?" he pounded his fist against the other boy's.
His voice. OH MY GOD, HIS VOICE.
But then...
"Hey look, Ruth! It's your boyfriend!"
