Red and blue lights flashed around me as I sat in stunned silence. I felt numb. "Are you alright, Miss?" I heard someone say. It couldn't comprehend what he was saying since I was still in shock. I climbed into my car and drove off. I made it about 3 miles before I had to pull over because i was crying too hard. It was when the next car passed down that empty country road that I realized my father really was dead. He was never going to see me graduate. He was never going to walk me down the aisle. I was never going to see him ever again because he was dead. Dead. Once Epicurus, a greek philosopher, said "Death is nothing to us, since when we are, death has not come, and when death has come, we are not." But death isn't nothing to us. It matters. Maybe not for the person who died but for everyone around them. The hardest part is everything around you remind you of that person but nobody else knows the memories you shared or how you're feeling though they pretend they do. Nothing will make my dad come back but maybe if i try hard enough I can forget his death for just a little while.
