Ten years is a lot of time, especially if you are not in contact with someone, isn't it?
Manik Malhotra and Nandini Murthy were childhood friends. Best friends.
Until, she left the city after her tenth grade.
And now she is returning...
~ Some actions are not that big as is their consequences~
Manik was breathing heavily, trying to calm down his tachycardic heart, but watching Nandini crying like anything wasn't doing any favour. It didn't matter that he didn't think her as his best friend anymore, because he could not bear her sobbing anyway. When he could take it no more, he got up and sat in front of her, on his knees and held her hands in his firm grip, surprising her. With a gentle touch, he tried wiping the water off her cheeks, but it didn't do any good since it made her eyes well up more.

" Nandini!", His voice was heavy, and for the first time, Nandini could clearly see the pain etched all over his face.
" Manik!", A sob escaped her lips as she held on to his hands, resting her head over them, and weeping like anything.
" I am sorry Manik! I really am!", Nandini whimpered breaking Manik's all composure to stay away from her. He held her close to him, letting her cry in his chest. He wrapped one arm around her when his peripheral vision caught Shiwali who was quietly trying to leave the room, letting the duo solve it.

Manik instantly grabbed her left wrist in his tight grip, which made Shiwali turn around to find a helpless look in Manik's eye that was begging her to not leave. Sighing, she nodded and stood beside him, as he sat holding Nandini.
