I keep smelling smoke, whether I'm in the apartment, out on the streets, in a class, wherever I tend to be, there's smoke. I don't really pay much attention to it, it's just some coincidences, I guess. It seems as if it's taunting me. I must be overreacting.

Damien is home for once, he hasn't left me alone yet today. It feels great.

"Sweetheart, I'm going to take you someplace nice next week. You know, for our three month anniversary." Damien says, smiling lightly.

"Oh really? Where are we going to go?" I ask curiously.

"It's a surprise babe, I know you'll like it."

"You know I can't stand surprises."

"I know, darling, just this once though. I really want it to be a surprise for you, you deserve something great since I haven't been around much lately."

"I guess I can manage a surprise, just this once though, right?"

"Yes babe, it'll be your last surprise ever."

He's gone again.

He left me alone, once again, after just apologizing for being gone too much.

It's really hot in the apartment, I'm pretty sure the heater is broken.

I feel like I'm on fire.

"I'll get it done, you don't have to worry about that part." I huff once more, getting extremely frustrated with the man sitting in front of me.

"Really? And I don't want one of your bullshit promises, I know how you are. I need you to get this done." This guy acts like he knows everything, he thinks I'll sneak my way out of this again. I would never break this promise.

"Yeah, yeah, you got your part of the deal done, and thank you for that, now it's my turn and I'll get it done. Just stop looking over my shoulder every fucking second to make sure I'm doing it up to your standard." I start to raise my voice, trying to prove a point.

"And you think she'll like the location?" he says smugly.

"Oh, I promise you she'll love it. She's always wanted to go someplace warm."
