Chapter 9 - Right Before My Eyes

Start from the beginning

The smile she had on her face in her reflection seemed fake. Jake knew his sister was hiding something as hard as she can from him. It drove him crazy that nobody ever saw the grumpy side of Stacy. With other people it didn't bother him, but he hated how she always got her way when their parents were the judge and jury because of her practiced expressions. Stacy was spoiled, that was obvious. Jake just expected and accepted it now.

Getting sick of watching Stacy admire himself, he quickly imagined there was one place that skirt would look better, which was on a street corner, Jake thought. Just as he turned to leave the room, Stacy turned to face Jake looking excited and a bit mischievous.

"How do I look?" She asked, telling him in her own way that she didn't want to fight anymore. Jake wanted to give her a chance to prove her innocence.

The shirt she wore with the skirt couldn't have been closer to her skin and gave a peek of the top of her breasts from what he knew were supported by a severe pushup bra under the crossed intertwining of a ribbon. At least her knee-high laced up boots were better than the heels of a hooker. A long necklace hung over her chest and swung across her belly button each time she moved. He had to admit, on a girlfriend the outfit would look amazing, but on his sister, he felt dirty even looking at her. He may have come up here to apologize but he still didn't approve of her outfit. Jake still couldn't shake that something else was going on in his sister's head.

"Gorgeous as always, even if you are underdressed." He said grudgingly.

"I know, as long as I look expensive." Stacy giggled. His stomach lurched again. Jake then decided that if their parents could trust her he could at least try. Besides they had some of the same friends, so he would hear about anything Stacy did.

"Look Stacy, I don't really feel like going tonight, so why do you just call me when you're ready to come home. I've hung out with the friends I wanted to see this week already anyway. I know any of my friends at the party would look after you for me. I'll pick you up any time in the early morning, so you'll arrive home safe." Jake knew he was lying to gauge a reaction from her but was surprised she didn't fight him.

Tears formed in her eyes as she quickly walked across her large room and gave him a big hug. When she pulled away she dabbed at her bottom lashes with a small hand towel she grabbed from her desk.

On her wall Stacy had a dragonfly logo cutout with pink studded diamonds embellishments.

"Now you're putting bugs on your wall?" Jake asked.

"It's a new line. I have a summer dress that I just bought for a hundred dollars that I'm wearing when I go off to college. See, isn't it pretty?" Stacy showed him a yellow lacy short dress with thin straps. Jake didn't even want to know how short it was on her, since it looked like it would fit a six-year-old. His sister was jabbering on.

"There is a girl I can't stand that I compete against for modeling jobs. If she wants it bad enough she'll sleep for it. It makes me sick. Most of the time she models for this designer's site which also happens to be her best friend. It is called Dragonfly Princess Designs and covers decorating from clothes to houses and gardens. Even though they are my competition, I love it, and I would love to have the clothes she makes and sponsors. She is famous here online. It is like an interactive magazine. I put my two cents into the advice columns but I am sure she doesn't really know who I am. Her best friend Harmony hates me though, so I've never gotten close enough to talk to her. I just buy her stuff online and see her sometimes when she goes with Harmony to a show."

"Mom and dad paid that much for a summer dress?" Jake exclaimed still stuck on the price.

"Yes." Stacy said smiling wide.
