Cry baby is an album by Melanie Martinez, released on August 14th, 2015 by Atlantic Records. It reached the top 10 in the Billboard's top 200 charts, and it certified Platinum. The singles released pre-album release were;
• Pity Party — Pity Party's music video was accidentally leaked by Melanie on May 29th, but she later tweeted that she was happy and excited for the fans who had already seen it, and it was formally released on June 1st, 2015.
• Soap — Soap was confirmed in June. It was announced to be released on July 10th 2015, however it leaked a day earlier.
• Sippy Cup — Melanie released the snippet for Sippy Cup on July 28th, and announced that it would be released on the 31st of July. On July 30th, SPIN Magazine premiered the Sippy Cup music video and the song was released the day after.
The Cry baby album follows the fantasty story of Melanie Martinez as a child, representing part of her messed up side. According to Melanie, many of the things that happened to Cry Baby are similar to the things that have happened to her (except for getting kidnapped and killing her kidnapper.) Each song has a childlike title, while the actual message includes more adult-like themes and problems.
