Nightmare

Tobias's POV

I toss once more trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Sleep has been rare these days with Tris's nightmares. I don't blame her for them and it breaks my heart to watch her suffer like that. We came back to Chicago only a week ago and things have not being going great.

      The stitches Tris had to get for her bullet wounds have split almost three times. She passed out on a run and I found her on the ground in the middle of the hallway. It scared me to death when I found her like that.

I'm snapped out of my daze when I hear a whimper. It's Tris. She starts crying and trashing around. "Tris? Hey, wake up!" Still nothing. Then she starts to scream. She screams as if someone's killing her.

"NO! HELP ME! PLEASE! SOMEONE!" She screams. She starts to shake and sob repeating her cries for help. Then I hear, "TOBIAS! NO! NO PLEASE!"

What is happening? I shake her some more and then I start to tell her name. "Tris! Wake up! Tris!"

Thankfully, her eyes fly open. She lets out a sob and wraps her arms around me like a vice. "It w-was h-h-horrible Tobias." She cries.

"It's okay, baby, it's okay. You were just dreaming, you were dreaming. You're okay. We're okay."

Her crying goes in for about five more minutes before they're just whimpers. Her breathing is shaky when she tries to talk again.

"You died." She cries/whispers. Oh, I think. That's why she was calling my name. She takes a few more deep breathes and says, "I'm sorry."

      I look at her in the darkness, a puzzled look on her face. "For what?" I ask. "Waking you up all the time.... this isn't your problem. It mine." She replies.

     "Tris," I say gently, but sternly, "it is not your fault. It never has been. J not hate to see you suffer like this. I'm not mad, just worried."

     She nods. "And I'll fight off the bad dreams of they come to get you." I say with a smile.

     She giggled and says, "With what?" Though she already knows the answer.

    "My bare hands obviously. Now get some sleep baby."

      She nods again and snuggles up against me. I kiss her forehead and close my eyes.
