Hey.
This is a story I wrote in highschool to raise awareness to those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Ever since I was about thirteen, I have been an advocate for those in recovery. A voice for those who have no voice of their own.
So many people gloss over addicts and those in recovery as stupid or worthless. People click their tongues at people struggling with drugs and shake their heads, talking about how they would never resort to that.
Guess what? Addicts and those in recovery are people too. They didn't choose to be in the position they're in. No one wakes up and thinks, "Hm, I think I'm going to go get addicted to a lethal drug." It's something that happens slowly as a result of circumstances they cannot control.
Please, treat them with the respect, love, and grace they deserve.
Enjoy the story.
