When I got home, I changed into my pyjamas then went to sleep. This time I slept like a baby and I woke up only when my stomach started to growl. At that point I realized that it was 7 PM and all I had eaten the whole day was milk with some cereal.

I went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, but I only had milk and some fruits. I grabbed a banana and two peaches and after I ate them I changed into some decent clothes and went to the supermarket for some real shopping. I started filling my shopping cart with yogurt, cheese, eggs and vegetables, then I tried to find a chocolate with mint filling.

Just when I was about to put the chocolate into my shopping cart I heard a joyful voice saying: "Mmm... Mint chocolate, my favorite. You have great taste, Maddy. I can call you Maddy, can't I?".

It was Damon... again. I could not believe it! I had been in this town for less than 24 hours and somehow I managed to bump into him for the 3rd time. I was starting to believe that it wasn't just a coincidence.

"Are you following me?" was the only question that crossed my mind.

"No, I'm just buying mint chocolate." he said smiling at me while putting two mint chocolates into his cart.

I couldn't help but smile back at him and he soon added: "I finally made you smile. My next goal is to make you say my name."

This time I ignored him and moved to the next shelf. Soon I finished filling my cart and went to the cashing register. Damon was standing in line behind me, so I took a peek inside his cart and I saw that it was almost empty. He was buying milk, beer and of course the chocolate.

"It's 57 dollars, miss." said the cashier.

I looked into my left pocket and discovered that I only had 50 dollars and 50 cents. I felt a little embarrassed and I told the cashier that I wasn't buying the chocolate and one yogurt.

"How much do you need?" Damon asked.

"It's ok, you don't have to do this." By the time I said these words he had already given 10 bucks to the cashier.

When we stepped outside I thanked him: "Thank you, Damon. I'll give you your money back the next time I see you."

"You're welcome! I couldn't let you go home without your mint chocolate." he replied and we both smiled. "And don't worry about the money. Take it as an apology for what happened last night." he continued on a friendly tone and I nodded.

"Now that I made you say my name, my next goal is to drive you home." he said still smiling at me.

"Not so fast!" I replied and I laughed a little.

"Come on, those bags look really heavy for such a slim girl like you." he added, trying to convince me to step into his car.

         "Maybe next time." I replied.

"So... there is going to be a next time." he said with a big grin on his face.

"Goodbye, Damon!" I replied with a smile, trying to ignore his last remark.

"Bye, Maddy!" he said while leaning on his convertible car. I waved him goodbye and then I headed home to cook dinner.

When I got home, I put the food in the fridge and then I changed into something more comfortable. It took me less than half an hour to make a cheese omlet and a fruit salad, then I turned on my laptop and played some music.

'This is perfect! Now I can eat in peace.' I thought to myself while I started eating my delicious omlet.

I had only taken a few bites when I heard a knock at my door. 'If this is Damon I'm calling the police.' I thought to myself as I went to open the door. For my surprise, the visitor was a dark-haired guy about my age.

"Can I help you?" I asked him.

"Hi, I'm your neighbor, Kyle Price. I live next door." he said with a smile.

"Oh, I'm Madeleine Thorne. I hope the music isn't too loud." I replied with a concerning voice.

"Oh, no, the music is more than fine. I love Nickelback. I just came to give you a warm welcome to the neighborhood." he replied on a cheerful voice.

"Thank you, Kyle! Come on in, I'll make you a hot chocolate. Or maybe you prefer orange juice?" I asked him on a friendly tone.

"Orange juice is fine." he answered, then stepped into the living room and took a seat on the couch while I brought the juice.

"I never thought that someone was going to move in this fast, but I'm glad I was wrong." Kyle said while I was pouring juice into our glasses.

"Why? What happened?" I looked at him curiously.

"Oh, you don't know..." he replied, making me even more curious.

"No, I don't. Tell me!" I demanded on a serious tone.

"Well... 4 weeks ago a girl was found murdered right here in this living room." he replied, visibly affected about what had happened.

I was in shock. "Are you serious or you're just trying to scare me?" was all I could say.

"No, I'm serious. She was killed by an animal or something like that." he replied with a serious look on his face.

"What animal?" I wanted to know.

"People say it was a vampire." was his answer and I couldn't help but laugh a little.

"Don't you think you're a little too old to believe that vampires are real?" I asked sarcastically.

"She had a bite mark on her neck and her body had been drained of its blood. She was not the only person who got attacked by these creatures. There is a reason why this town is called Mystic Falls, but people are too blind and careless to accept it. I personally believe that vampires exist." he said like he meant every word that came out of his mouth.
