so she tells you everything.

she pours her heart out to you. she cries, she sobs, she wails. so much emotion that she hides come rushing out in the form of tears, and she's so overwhelmed she doesn't know what to do.

so she cries some more, and she starts showing you a completely different side to her that you never knew she had.

she starts talking to you about topics you never knew she cared about, she starts talking to you maturely about the problems and worries she have, she starts talking to you about the bugging thoughts in her head that surface at 4am when she's wide awake in bed.

but by sunrise, that side of her is gone. she told me she was always afraid of the dark, but it felt like she was using the dark as her safety blanket, as her shield - as long as it was there, she felt like it was okay to let go. and when it was gone, she felt the need to put on a front again.

maybe that's why she's scared of the dark - not because of the monsters, but because she becomes so different she feels like she is the monster.
