She beagn to play and hum.

"You could be here, but you're there, you could be anywhere and these days I don't even care no more. You only be showing me love whenever you've had too much, whatever's been filling your cup, no more." She began to sing and I got lost in her voice

It was very clear who the song was about.

"Baby, no more showing up when you're not sober, at my front door just to say you're alone tonight. Yeah, tryna mess me and my mind up, It's a reminder you're a liar and you know I'm right." She continued

"You say you can't live without me, so why aren't you dead yet? Why you still breathing?
And you say you can't live without me, then why aren't you dead yet? Why do you say that?" She finished

I began to clap, "It's good so far, Grier."

"Really?" She asked surprised

I nodded, "Yeah, do you think it's a nice play on words?"

"Oh yeah definitely, Pala is gonna love it." I agreed as she put the guitar back where she found it

Grier picked her keys up, "I was thinking when you come over Sunday, we could ride the ATVS, maybe swim, I'm thinking out loud here so just bring a swimsuit and a change of clothes basically. And the homework and guitar of course."

"You got it, Johnson." I nodded before I walked her out

--
It was ten in the morning and Grier wanted me to come over at noon.

I laid on my bed as I scrolled through Instagram considering that Grier Johnson finally followed me back after four years of following her.

For years I thought Grier was only beautiful on the outside but the past week showed me that she was beautiful on the inside too.

I began to get ready and I made sure to pack my songbook, a change of clothes - like she said, and opened my mind.

"Dad." I started as I went down the stairs

"Yes, Ev?" He said looking up from his phone

I looked my Dad in the eye, "I want to pursue a relationship with someone, not romantically but you know what I mean. I just feel like she hangs around the wrong crowd, people talk, but like I feel like I know someone else than other people know."

"Is this about the girl that was over here Friday night?" My dad questioned me

I nodded, "Grier."

"Well, I don't know any of the rumors that go on in your school but I'll tell you this. You have eight or seven months before you really never see or talk to these people again. If you think she's a good person and worth your time and friendship, be friends with her - it doesn't matter what other people think. I hate chocolate cake, but you love chocolate cake just because I hate it doesn't mean it's not good." My Dad spoke

He always gave good advice.

"Thanks, Dad, I'll be back before dinner." I said without another word before I walked out

I drove to Grier's house, she sent me to the password to her gate - thank God otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get in.

Her front door was a huge, ornate, iron door.

I rang the doorbell and was greeted by Grier Johnson who was wearing white tank top and sweatpants.

"I should've told you to come around back, but come on in." She said letting me in

Her house was gorgeous there was a double stairway, family pictures everywhere, but I didn't expect anything less.

"Oh, I didn't know you were coming over." Holland said coming down the stairs in a Calvin Klein sports bra and sweatpants
