"Let not then this present life deceive you" (Quran, : 5).
Illusion: a deceptive appearance or impression.
Do you love life? What do you love about it? What do you desire?
Money, jewels, nice cars, good food, fashionable clothes, glamorous houses, fame and good recognition by people etc.
The world has it all
You want it right? And when you want something you work for it
How far will you go to attain what you want in this life?
The world with it's glam and glitter
the enjoyable things you partake in
whether it be music, alcohol, dancing/singing etc.
You love it right? You don't want to give it up
but all of it will be given up whether you like it or not
because every soul shall taste death
and as time goes by, a piece of us is gone
a piece of us that is irretrievable
the time we spend can never be refunded
this world with all it's glam and glitter
you don't want to give it up
but with death none of it will matter anymore
this life is a test
with all its temptations it pulls at our souls
we must fight it
jihad an-nafs, struggle against the soul's inclination to desires
that is the test
yes we want things
but it might not be good for us
even though it feels or tastes good
this world and the muslims are like the sweets and the dieters
the sweets the dieter must resist because even though it tastes good, in reality it is not for the body and they want the reward at the end (Fit body, and good health)
it is an illusion
the world the muslim must resist because even though it feels good, in reality it is not for the soul and they want the reward at the end (Paradise)
this world is an illusion
even though it feels good, it's not good in reality
it's just damaging the soul and the body
like sweets damage the health and the body
slowly but surely
this world is an illusion
will you fall for it?
the true destination is paradise
indefinitely better than this world
but you want the less now instead of the more later?
if you choose this world over the hereafter
you sacrifice the ocean for the bowl
but if you desire paradise at the expense of this world, you sacrifice the bowl for the ocean
this world is a test
check over your 'answers' before time runs out (death)
open your eyes to the hints so generously given (Ayat) that this enjoyment of life is but an illusion and all of it will end
If a person came up to you and gave you a list of requirements for you to fulfill and a list of things you had to give up for a set period of time, so that you could win a million dollars, and warned you that if you did not do it, you would go to jail, would you just continue doing whatever you want? Or would you do what the person told you to achieve that reward?
That is the Muslim's way of life
Sometimes, achieving the better thing comes with sacrificing other (seemingly) good things and working hard
And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew. - Ankabut (29:64)Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. -Imran (3:185)And the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah, so will you not reason? -An'am (6:32)Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion. -Hadid (57:20)Al-Mustawrid reported: The Messenger of Allah said: "What is the example of this worldly life in comparison to the Hereafter other than one of you dipping his finger in the sea? Let him see what he brings forth." -Sahih Muslim 2858
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." -Fajr (89:24)
Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler along a path." -Sahih Bukhari 6053
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of Allah said: "Verily, the example of this world and myself is that of a rider who seeks shade under a tree, then he moves on and leaves it." -Musnad Ahmad 3701
The son of Adam is nothing but a number of days, and each day that goes by, a piece of us is gone. What are you doing with your temporary life in preparation for the eternal life?
