"I...What about the other groups? The Railroad and the Minutemen?" You asked "They are getting closer and closer to wiping us out. You have to stop them and I believe in you but even if it does go wrong and they end up killing everyone..I just want you to know that, it wasn't your fault. You would indeed be the youngest leader of the institute but I know you have it in you to defend us." He said

"I-I don't understand why you are handing this over to me? Can't you cope with the stress or something?" You was beyond confused but what he said next made your world come crashing down around you, just like it did many times before

"I'm dying." Everyone went silent, letting his words sink in. The scientists bowed their heads as they become highly emotional and you just stared with wide eyes

"No-No I cant do this! P-Please grandfather!..I-Just when I thought I finally found someone who would be by my side forever. Someone who would be there for me." You began to tear up as you realised you was once again losing someone you really cared about

Maybe...Just maybe, Maxson was right all them years ago. It seemed like being honest and nice got you no where, You struggled to find love, people used you, walked in and out of your life for people more two faced and fake.

Your face paled and your grandfather noticed

"(Y/N)? Are you okay?" He asked "Grandfather...I-I'll take over. I'll make them pay I promise." You whispered out and he couldn't help but smile "Just defend the institute and all we've worked for. Don't let it all be in vain." He said and you nodded

"I'll do my best." You whispered out again "You know where everything is, I shall stay in my quarters. If you need anything just come and see me."

You nodded once again and he began walking out, the scientists turned their attention on to you and you slowly looked up at them

"Congratulations Director." They said and you couldn't help but smile slightly "Thank you."

You sure did keep your promise so far, however Shaun's condition only got worse, which only made you angrier as people were still trying to get to him, the railroad wouldn't stop with helping escaped synths, The Minutemen Just kind of..Well, they kept things low however the Brotherhood wouldn't stop their relentless attempts to get into the institute.

You had actually received news about the Brotherhood that began to worry you.

They were working on something called, Liberty prime and as far as you knew, it was a HUGE robot that could wipe out an entire army

You had heard they were installing, nuclear bombs and you felt like passing out

You needed to resolve this before things turned hectic

"Grandfather. I have decided. I shall go and resolve things with the groups. Starting with the rail road." You said and he looked at you like you was crazy

"They will not Hear you out, I have tried many time but they don't have it. They want to destroy us and they will if we don't react back. We need to wipe them out."

"Okay grandfather, that is such a bad idea! That would cause more chaos than it would cure." You said

"Then do as you wish. The future of the institute is in your hands."

"Please, don't put it like that."

"Just do whatever you think will-" before he got to finish the building started shaking, your eyes widened in shock as you steadied yourself and glanced at the pistol that lay on the table

"Fuck it." You growled as you stumbled over and loaded the gun

"I just hope the synths do their job and defend the place. Grandfather...I won't let them get to you."
