Gethen is out today, I learn after reporting, as usual, to the practice room to find a new person standing there.
"Hey," the lanky man says. "Trix. I'm a Guster and I'm going to take Gethen's place today. He's on a job."
I nod and sit down, as usual.
"Wait," Trix says. "We're not going to be in here today. We're going outside, to practice Gusting."
Surprised at the announcement, I follow Trix into a well-lit room that I realize is lit up by a large hole in the ceiling. Trix pulls out a crystal, holds it up to the light, takes my hand, and spirits us away.
