I bit back yet another scream as the man walked into the cave. Slade pushed me behind him and for the first time since he brought me here, I was glad to be closer to him. The other man stalked in and stopped exactly five feet away.

"So I see that you have yourself a mate, Shalise. Cute little thing too. What's her name?" the stranger asked with a smile that screamed killer.

"Leave her out of this. She is no part of our argument." Slade growled.

" well now actually she is. You drug her into this when you claimed her as your mate. She can now be considered collateral damage."

I was barely listening. Slade's back was warm and surprisingly comfortable. I was starting to get very sleepy when all of a sudden Slade's back was no longer in front of me. I looked up to see Slade charging the other man. He hit the other in the gut with his head while his arms wrapped around the guy and practically bulldozed him to the floor. The unknown man got to his feet and looked at Slade. Then faster than, well anything, he was right behind me with one hand around my waist and the other at my throat.

Slade moved towards me but the hand at my throat tightened and he stopped. I tried to struggle but sheer terror had frozen me to the spot. I couldn't move and Slade couldn't move. I looked him in the eye and found so much pain and fear in his eyes. It gave me enough juice to bring my boot up and kick the other man in his crown jewels.

He released me and doubled over. I ran to Slade who took me in his arms and I buried my head in his shoulder. I know what you're thinking: complete turn around from what I acted like a few hours ago. Slade's arm's tightened around me and I felt safe. But that feeling was short lived, for not a minute later I heard a feral snarl come from the other man.

I turned and looked at him and immediately wished that I hadn't. His eyes were red, a sure sign that a werewolf is angry. I squeaked and turned back around. Slade pushed me behind him. then he crouched into an attack defense position.

The  other werewolf charged him and knocked him on his back. I screamed.  It went on like that for a little while until Slade finally got the upper hand and got his feet under the other man and launched him into the wall of the cave. the man's head hit the wall with a crack and I was suddenly very worried. Not because I liked the man, far from it. I was worried because if he was dead I didn't think that having that guilt for his death would do any good but it would probably weigh me down a lot.

"He's not dead, just knocked out." Slade said, noticing my expression.

I relaxed and sagged. My body had been on overload with all of the adrenaline.I started to walk towards Slade but as soon as I took the first step my legs just collapsed. I fell and put my arms out in front of me so that I could brace the fall. I knew that it would hurt so I braced for the pain but it never came. I opened my eyes and saw that I was suspended above the ground. I turned my head and looked over my shoulder at Slade.

He held me in his arms and pulled me back upright. I leaned heavily against him as he wrapped his arms around me, tightly. after a moment he let go and I whimpered. He went into his room as he shot me a look over his shoulder. he was in there for a little bit but when he came out he had a big suit case in his hand. I looked at it then at him. He had a grim face as he looked at me.

"We need to leave. preferably before he wakes up.' He said jerking his head towards the fallen body.

"But why?" I asked stunned.

I was still adjusting to being kidnapped. to be taken further would be huge. I looked up at him shocked. He grimaced and took my face in his hands and leaned down. He pressed his lips to mine and at first I just stood there and then something clicked and I kissed him back with everything I had as my body sparked at his touch.

He pulled back, leaving me breathless. Then he looked at me with sad eyes.

"I'm sorry, Love. We can't stay here. That man will stop at nothing to get you. When our disagreement first started it was over something stupid but it was fun so we kept it up. But he's right, you are now collateral damage to him. When we first started there was nothing that he could use against me because I really didn't care about anything or anyone. But now..." He trailed off and I filled in the blank.

'You have me."

He tried for a smile but didn't quite get it and nodded. Then he straightened and took my  hand in one of his and grabbed the suitcase with the other. Then he looked around, eyes finally landing on the body and led me out of the cave.

* A few hours later*

We were walking through the woods looking for a new home. Well Slade was looking, I was trying to stay awake. We had been walking for hours. I was so tired and hungry but I didn't dare ell Slade that.

I stumbled a little bit as a root rose up out of the ground. Slade saw me wobble and was right by my side. i assured him that i was alright but he wasn't having any of it. He picked me up with one hand and cradled me to his chest all while carrying the suitcase in the other hand. I protested that I was heavy and he couldn't carry me the whole way but he told me that I wasn't heavy at all and that he would carry me all the way so just deal with it.

I wasn't happy about it but I could see that I wasn't going to get anywhere with him so I just gave up. His chest was really warm and comfortable and I was so tired. Without meaning to I let my eyes slip shut and fell asleep in his arm.

I was woken up a little while later. When I opened my eyes the first thing I saw was Slade's handsome face. I smiled and he returned it. Then he set me on my feet with his arm around my waist.

"Well Sweetheart. Here's our new home." He said smiling while I gaped.
