37. Surrounded by Enemies

Start from the beginning

"Why did you never tell me that I have a damn half sister?!" Star-Lord yells through the noise the crushing palace makes as it falls apart piece by piece, torn by Ego himself. Aurora meanwhile starts to rewire the mechanics to make the ship fly properly as she sits next to Peter.

"To prevent that ya two find out the truth, you remained safer with the lie. Once I figured out what happened to the other kids, I wasn't gonna just hand you over. Didn't know that this jackass would try to do that with 'Rora as well. I couldn't leave her behind after Dorothy asked for my help." Their conversation continues as if the light trying to crush the ship wouldn't exist.

"Safer? You said you were gonna eat me!" Peter complains and Aurora snorts loudly, making him look to her direction.

"Oh, my God, really?! That's so hilari— sorry, so inappropriate." She tries to contain her laughter as Rocket chuckles at her reaction, making fun of their growing sibling relationship.

"See, Aurora gets it too! That was being funny."

With an indignant look, Peter Quill's head is in Yondu's direction. "Not to me!!!"

"You people have issues." Rocket comments nonchalantly and Aurora's eyes widen in shock when she faces Ego for the very first time for a while. Through the windshield, Peter and her are able to witness how their biological father's skeletal grows inhumanly gigantic in a creepy and distraught way.

"Of course, I have issues!" Pointing at the roaring monster made of light, Peter only shouts disturbed, "That's my freaking father!"

"What the fucking hell?!" Aurora screams with a disgusted expression and scrunches up her face. She quickens her pace while working at the wires. "I'll never be able to get this image out of my head! Ugh! Let's get out of here fast, thrusters are back up! And I'll fly now!"

Peter is about to argue but Yondu stops him, shaking his head. "Let her, she's a better pilot than you."

Flying through Ego, a sight that Aurora seriously wants to forget, they crash through the glass pane of the palace, but instead of flying up, they drop like a stone vertically down. Screams are audible from the others upstairs but Aurora has to admit it feels like an awesome rollercoaster.

"We should be going up!" Yondu exclaims at Aurora who shakes her head as they fall dangerously closer and closer towards the ground.

"Mantis said the center's down there! That's his weak point."

"Ego wants to eradicate the universe as we know it. We have to kill him." Peter agrees as he narrows his eyes at the critically small fissure in the earth, Aurora is slightly taken aback by his plan. Is there really no other way to defeat him? Peter doesn't seem to be the killing type but he is more than determined to use unpleasant measures. Yet, she pushes her thoughts aside to focus on flying, she can worry about that later. "Rocket!"

"Got it!" The raccoon responds and changes the gear at the same time, blasting the laser perfectly to create an opening in the crack.

Aurora smirks challenging at the hole and dives into it with high speed. Barely fitting in, the ship smashes into the planet and leads them deeply down. The way is difficult and complex but the female pilot still manages to twist through the tunnels and around every corner. In the meantime, Rocket mans the laser to blast out their way free, just in time so they can scrape through.

"Not bad, Rocket! Badass!" Aurora yells as they dive deeper into Ego.

"You know what, Quill? Your sister's tougher than you." Rocket returns the compliment by insulting Peter who only sighs in disappointment.
