-olivia's p.o.v-

it was 3pm and i was exhausted from my shift.

"your time is up, olivia" steven walked over to me, my bag in his hand. "you may leave these prison walls" he sighed theatrically as he handed me my bag.
taking it, i playfully punched his shoulder.

i was glad that steven acted more as a friend than a boss, it made my shifts easier- and funnier.

"cheers stevie" i picked up my coat and gave him a quick hug before walking towards the door.

"see you later" he said whilst lightly waving "don't be too naughty!"

i turned around smirking and rolled my eyes at him before pushing open the cafe door, causing the bell to ring lightly above my head.

i pulled my phone out from my back pocket, i hadn't checked it since this morning.

george
text message (2)

ryan
text message (3)

i panicked at seeing that ryan had messaged me multiple times, before quickly swiping open his messages.

10:34am
ryan: when do you finish work??x

10:41am
ryan: ring me beforehand if you're coming to mine

01:44pm
ryan: im going out tonight so you should just stay in your flat x

i relaxed slightly and tried to ignore the thoughts of what he'd been doing and where he was going tonight that invaded my head.

03:06pm
finished work now, okay see you tmrw xx

i was actually relieved that he was going out tonight, i didn't have to go to his house.

10:31am
george: hey, it's george. just got to my lecture, bored out of my brains:(

10:46am
george: i was wondering if you wanna go out tonight? like, it's friday and im not doing much x

for some reason, butterflies filled my stomach at the thought that george wanted to go out with me tonight... then i realised it was probably an accident.

03:07pm
hey, it's olivia. did you mean to send that to me? i just got out of work:)

i was now in the centre of town and impulsively walked towards starbucks to get a drink. i quickly pushed the door open before joining the line.

i looked around the store patiently, it was how it always was- clean, decorated and filling with the sound and smell of coffee machines. there was a family of four having lunch next to the window, an elderly woman seated nearby with a newspaper and small groups of students dotted around the tables.

it was relaxing to have the day free of lectures... and ryan.

i suddenly felt eyes burning into me and turned around to face the other side of the coffee shop. i saw as a bundle of dark curls quickly flop down, looking at a phone. the boy's skinny frame was sat in the corner, dressed in black head to toe. i'd never seen him before.

thinking (nearly) nothing of it, i turned and moved forward in the line.

after getting my coffee, i decided to take it away and walk around town. my phone buzzed again and george's name lit up the screen.

03:16pm
george: yeah it was meant for you.. obviously you don't have to come but i thought i'd invite you anyway x

i thought of what ryan had said about me staying in my flat, but he wouldn't know that i was out if i didn't tell him.

03:17pm
yeah i'm not busy, where should i meet you? x

i pressed send and suddenly felt my stomach flip for going against what ryan had told me to do. it felt good.

"wow you look fab, babe" lauren, my best friend, and roommate, grabbed my hand and spun me around in front of the mirror.

"eh, im not sure." i looked in the mirror, tugging the hem of my black dress down. "it's too short... i can't wear this- i look desperate!"

lauren placed her hands on her tiny waist, "don't be stupid olivia, you look hot!"
a look of uncertainty from me made her impatient, "anyway, there isn't enough time to change. you have to leave now"

i looked at the time. 8:46pm. george had asked me to meet him at the blue moon, a nightclub in town, at 9pm. "okay, okay." i grabbed my bag and gave lauren a quick hug, "see you later, if i don't come back then i'm dead"

"don't say that!" she lightly shoved me and laughed as callum walked into the lounge.

"you meeting mr. wanker?" he looked me up and down, unimpressed at the thought of ryan.

"no. for your information, i'm meeting another guy."

"you broke up with him?! fucking hell, you changed your mind on him quick." callum smiled, he told me every day to break up with ryan.

"i'm just meeting a friend, im still with ryan." i had to grit my teeth to say it, "but i have to go, bye!" i blew a sarcastic kiss before scurrying out of the door.

i pulled my dress down for the last time before looking up to see i was at the club. there was a long line of people from the doorway and a bouncer standing at the entrance.
i could hear the blaring music from inside and there was flashing neon lights, but there was no sign of george.

"olivia!" i turned around to see george walking towards me. he was wearing a white shirt with a few of the top buttons undone and plain black jeans. when he reached where i was standing, he leaned down and gave me a quick hug.

"hey" i smiled timidly, i didn't expect a hug. but i wasn't complaining.
"you look nice" he eyed my little black dress and bare legs. i felt my cheeks burning. why did i wear this?
his eyes flashed up to mine again, "hey, seriously. you look really nice"
"thanks" i smiled for a second before looking towards the entrance.

"let's go inside" he said, taking my hand, another gesture i wasn't expecting.

he lead me to the front of the line where we were greeted by a few looks of annoyance as george spoke to the bouncer.
after a few seconds of talking, he lead me straight inside, i had no idea how but i didn't have time to question it as i was being pulled into the swaying, intimate crowd.
