We walk peacefully side by side through the desert hallways of the back of the spaceship, enjoying each other's company.
I haven't felt this happy since centuries and centuries. A surreal calm has spread inside of me. The peace after the storm. My heart beats quickly, but it's not anxiety, scare or anger. It's happiness. Adrenaline.
«I would have never imagined to end up here with you» Valkyrie says at a certain moment, breaking the silence. «I thought my destiny was to live hiding on Sakaar and to die there, one day.»
We continue to walk silently, thoughtfully.
«In my opinion you actually knew deep down that you couldn't live your entire life there. Something would have changed, eventually.»
«Probably you're right.»
I briefly turn to look at her. It still surprises me when someone agrees with me on something. Very uncommon.
«Unfortunately peace is a great illusion» I continue «You never know what's next.»
Valkyrie stops walking in front of a window and I stop too. She looks outside and I look at her.
«Indeed» she says and I perceive a slight worry in her tone. «What's to become of us?»
I sigh and move my gaze to observe the stars. Suddenly an image of Thanos flashes in my mind. It seems always more difficult to ignore it.
«I don't know» I admit.
She turns to look at me and my eyes meet hers. She studies me with concern.
«Something worries you, isn't it?» she asks, moving a step toward me.
I vaguely wonder how can she read me this well, but finally I give her a reassuring smile.
«Nothing worries me as long as I am with you and you're safe» I say moving a lock of hair behind her ear.
She smiles and slightly grins.
«I didn't know you could be this romantic, Laufeyson, what else are you hiding?»
I can't help but give her a mischievous look.
«If you only knew....» I smirk.
She widens her eyes at me and I notice a slight blush on her cheeks.
«Idiot» she says turning again to the window.
How adorable. I let out a small giggle and approach her to bring an arm around her back, reassuringly. She still stiffens a little bit at my contact, but then relaxes.
«You're going to be safe» I say.
She turns to look at me.
«What about you?»
I shrug.
«Don't worry about me. I'll be fine.»
«You speak like something bad is about to happen» she states «What is it?»
I look into her brown eyes full of concern and determination.
I can't tell her.
«I don't know» I lie only partially.
«Loki, I trust you» she says suddenly, almost with urgency «Don't let me down.»
A brief smile flashes on my lips, while her words get engraved in my mind.
«I won't» I say leaning until our lips meet.
I kiss her gently and she doesn't hesitate to kiss me back, while my heartbeat accelerates and my skin threats to turn blue once more.
Suddenly we hear a small giggle followed by a "sssh!" and I raise my head to look at the source of the sound, Valkyrie does the same.
We manage to see the heads of two kids sneaking up on us before they disappear, followed by fast steps in the corridors as they run away, giggling.
I roll my eyes and Valkyrie lets out a small laugh.
«That's Thor's doing» I say, glaring at the corner behind which they disappeared.
«No shit, Loki! Who else would love to know what his little brother's up to?» she points out in an amused tone.
«I'll kill him.»
«What? Don't, please, I like him.»
I turn to glare at her.
«Double reason to kill him.»
She laughs at me and shakes her head.
«God, I love you» she says without even realising it.
I stare blankly for some seconds and she probably doesn't notice it but I feel my sight getting a little blur while my heart beats faster.
«I love you too, Valkyrie» I admit in a whisper which causes her to stop laughing.
She stares at me with shiny eyes and I easily understand what she is feeling. Because I feel it too.

As expected, I find Thor sitting on the throne, observing Space from the large window on the front of the spaceship. We must be very close to the arrival on Midgard.
«Might I have a word with you, your majesty?» I ask mockingly, stopping few meters behind him.
He laughs and turns.
«I knew you would come» he says motioning for me to approach him.
«Were you waiting for me?» I ask, reaching him and standing now in front of him.
«Kind of.»
«You continue to surprise me, brother» I say «How smart of you to send your little secret agents to sneak around.»
«Hey, I'm the king» he replies «I need to know what happens on my spaceship» he winks.
I slightly narrow my eyes at him and he continues to speak.
«You know... I wouldn't want an army of small-Lokis to roam free, one is already more than enough-»
I assault him to shut him up, but I fail, he has always been the stronger one. He blocks my arms and I can't move. I glare at him.
«You're not funny, Thor.»
He doesn't give up his wide smile.
«Yes, I am.»
He begins to laugh and I can't resist much longer, I laugh too and move a step back to stand in front of him again.
«I've missed you, brother» he admits.
I look at him from top down.
«Sentimental.»
«Look who's talking.»
I roll my eyes at him and move as to leave.
«No more spies, Thor.»
«I can't promise that» he says and I walk past his throne «Don't forget, brother, no small-Lokis!»
I stop just few steps from his throne.
I smirk.
«I can't promise that.»
And I leave.
