I held her hand in mine. “Please, please, please,” I whispered over and over. I wanted her to come back to me. I stroked circles on her hand. I loved her so much. The bell tolled midnight. Nothing happened. She didn’t stir. I rested my head against the bed she laid on. Her hair was down. Shiny blonde. Flowers were braided in her hair. She wore a simple knee-length white dress. You would think she was asleep. I kissed her hand. “I love you,” I whispered. I kissed her forehead. Her lips once more. She was dead. All hope was gone. A tear dripped off my cheek and onto her face. I turned to leave. When I heard something subtle. I turned but she was perfectly still. Then all the sudden the room was alight. I closed my eyes. When the light disappeared Aspasia was still. Then she took a breath. Hey eyes blinked open. Her heart glowed with light. She was alive. Her soul had been given back. Miranda burst in the room followed by Anna, James, Sadira, and Sam. Aspasia moved before all of us. She jumped into my arms, and kissed me.

“You think I would leave? I love you too much to do that.”
